Re: BSV - 04/03/2017 12:48 PM

Yikes! Look at the sand cliffs. My BSV experiences are very limited but I've never seen that before along Simpson Bay anywhere. Often seen and taller at Mullet but not usually at BSV. Soon...... <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Joy.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Joy.gif" alt="" />

Sorry to see the cliff there. Pretty unusual. Do you know if it's been that way for a while?

Re: BSV - 04/03/2017 01:44 PM

I don't understand why that guy has that awning there. I don't think it's needed.

Re: BSV - 04/03/2017 05:40 PM

I think that awning when opened would provide shade out into the sand if you wanted to sit in the lounge chairs there and be shaded from the sun. There must be some reason it was installed there. If you just want to sit up on the deck, I agree it is not needed to do that.

Re: BSV - 04/03/2017 06:11 PM

Think we might try this location next visit.

Re: BSV - 04/03/2017 06:33 PM

Isn't that the only privately owned unit there?

As I remember our limited stay at BSV, the sun is very intense almost all day from morning to evening - heaven help those who skimp on their sunblock!! So I can see why the awning might be advantageous, but for conformity sake.....? <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" />

Re: BSV - 04/03/2017 06:36 PM

Yes, that is the privately owned unit. I don't have any personal knowledge of it, but I can't imagine that Drew and Tracy are terribly excited to have it there, as it does definitely stick out as different from the rest of the units. It must be for shade on the actual beach, as Elizabeth said, as you don't need it to shade the deck.

Will be at BSV again for 17 days starting two weeks from today. Thanks for the preview!

Re: BSV - 04/04/2017 02:15 AM

The sand cliffs just come and go with the waves. It was calm when we arrived,no cliffs, but not so much right now. Like you know it changes quickly.
They can be gone soon.

I don't think the awning opens, but I will take a closer look tomorrow. It may take the edge off the direct sunlight, or it may just be decor. He has a lot of items of interest on his deck, including the singing birds.

Re: BSV - 04/04/2017 12:11 PM

That's weird, if that awning doesn't open. I think we will probably be next to him in June. Can't wait!!!

Re: BSV - 04/04/2017 03:35 PM

That is the same one we stayed in last summer. Number 10 I think. Did you guys walk barefoot to el Zafiro for dinner? haha I remember you saying that you would like to do that.

Re: BSV - 04/04/2017 03:48 PM

I don't think you intended to direct that comment to me, but possibly to Terri (The Lurker)?

Re: BSV - 04/06/2017 12:45 PM

I've been here in Villa #13 for the last week and a half. The waves have been a little rougher this week than last, hence the small cliff like mounds. There is plenty of beach. This is actually our 20th year in a row, except for April 2000 staying here. We also come at other times in the year, but it all started this time of year. It just doesn't get any better than this. There's plenty of beach and as always the staff has been terrific.

Lucky you, to be there! Enjoy!! ...and some of you folks could send us a another picture of the beach, for those of us who are wishing we were there! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Smile.gif" alt="" />

The awning can open!!
I checked it Tuesday morning before we left SXM.

Both my husband and I had some health issues.
We hope to be back in November.
