I've previously made my feelings known.
Since construction was originally supposed to begin 1/1/17, any delays will put a smile on those of us that stay in Little Bay.

Somebody call Amsterdam and Paris.......450 apartments all to be bought by companies from le chine...........doesn't sound like a free market project to me............i cant think of another project like that where all the tenants will come from a single country ...........sounds more like a hemispheric corporate HQ beachhead on the beach - literally 8433 miles from Peking
Why didn't they pick Port au Prince where it could do some good

When I look at that rendering, I can't help but feel for the people who own those houses higher on the hillside, who will no longer have a view if this project comes to fruition.

Wasn't this the site of the Barbabron [sp?] that already failed? Had a couple of island friends that lost a bundle there already!

All part of a program to make friends and influence people. China is trying to create the Silk Road.......They also have the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank that seeks to compete with the World Bank and has half the capital of WB already. Almost every country (including France and Netherlands) has become a member in this bank, save two: Japan and US, and supposedly Japan is considering joining less they be left out.
Strange world keeps spinning.

We could not understand that a new villa was being built on that hillside with the pending construction plan for China Pearl, when we were @ Belair in January.

I didn't think anything could be uglier than the current belair, but the rendering of the proposed project is! I fear for what these islands may become in the next 20+ years

Has anyone mentioned that the Blue Mall is becoming a Hilton hotel?

I had heard that, so I think it must have been posted here.

I don't agree with you about Belair being ugly, but am not happy about China Pearl.

We stayed there in '99 for 10 days. Looked antiquated then but worked for us then.

Not that it matters, but I love the Belair, too. It's one of the older island properties but still serves it guests well. And it is right on a generally very swimmable beach. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" />

If construction starts, the typical Chinese overseas construction practice are materials and low cost labor are imported from China. I wonder where all the workers will stay during construction and long term those who will be working at the "resort". Short or Long term this is not a good deal for most.
