Day 3

Posted By: jeepers

Day 3 - 01/12/2018 03:18 PM

Spent the day at club o. Hubby counted 22 umbrellas just north of pedros 2 sets of chairs each with about 12 chairs. The beach & the water pristine with no rubbish on the beach. The beach beyond those chairs was empty & less than a dozen people. There are different people running perch lite but the water sports and massage people are the same people. We were treated like royalty. The water sports building is gone but they r collecting for chairs & umbrella. The massage lady has a little shelter set up & looks to be busy. The cruise people are coming in taxis & sitting at one end with the clothing optional people toward the far end. There are no security people walking the beach & no signage present so lots of photos being taken.
As a vacationers the lack of street lights at night is noteworthy. There is lots of room to park cars at club o right near the bar area but you must take the road that goes in to Galen beach.
Last night we sat on balcony eating dinner listening to the night sounds & tree frogs with the soft night breeze & sipping homemade banana rum from Tropicana.
There are signs everywhere of reconstruction on the island. They are working very hard.
Today Friars Bay.
Cheers
Lynn & John

Thanks for the note. Did you ask about Willie? Do you mean that there are chairs set up on the NON Club O side of Pedro's?? Or were there only 22 umbrellas set up on Club O beach?

Yes, there are 2 sets of chairs on the non club o side of Pedro's. In the vicinity of chez leandra's. They are serving drinks not sure about food yet.
Will ask about Willie next time there. Soon.going for massage once I stop coughing.
Enjoy doing the reports.

Re: Day 3 - 01/13/2018 02:39 AM

Certainly at this point the Perch Light is pretty much the only game in town, therefore Taxis and ATV excursions are heading to the Perch as the drop off location like they used to at Pedro's. There appears to be more and more activity at the Club O end, the Massage lady has a nice little building and there is another small structure being built for boutique sales. The washrooms are a bit crude, two flush toilets which appear to drain into a holding tank or septic tank with water fed from an elevated reservoir, there is no sink but an outdoor tap. Somewhat primitive but functional. Had it locked for a while when there were a number of cruisers present and I believe they were charging for use. Perch is quite busy. Beach is great, only concern is there is some sharp stone or corral in the water so would advise bringing or buying surf socks if venturing into the water.

Thanks for the info. Sounds somewhat better than a porta potty, at least. I actually don't care if they're charging for it either. If they had a similar setup at Mullet, I would pay.

Way better than porta potty! They do flush. They for sure aren't charging if you are drinking or eating there.

Heard that Hilma of Hilma's Windsor Castle was working somewhere at Friar Bay? Her "Castle " is nothing now but the frame of her trailer. Hope she is doing well.

I was wondering about Hilma and have had several others ask me about her.

I asked about Hilma yesterday at Kali's & they had no idea who I was talking about so she isn't there & Friars Bay beach cafe isn't open. Sorry, I was hoping to have news of her.

I had heard Hilma left the island for awhile after the hurricane. Perhaps she has not returned yet. Not sure if she will reconstruct her business in Simpson Bay again.
