Never mind US pre-clearance, it stunned me to read that their target date for return to pre-Irma status at the airport is 2020!!!

That struck me, too, Carol. Residents simply can't wait that long!

I guess I am not surprised given the amount of damage to the building and the fact that the roof alone will take 4 to 5 months to repair. I thought I read someplace that the roof alone will take 4 to 5 months to redesign, fabricate and install. And given "island time" the 4 to 5 months may be optimistic. And since very little inside work can be done until the roof is fixed I will be surprised if it is ready in mid 2019.

Just my 2 cents.

Grand Cayman has been working on their airport for about five years. . It took three plus years to complete Antigua's new terminal.
St Maarten is going to be a long time to fix.

We're checking on this but I don't think it's significant at all. As far as the airport is concerned. they are 100% moving fwd with this, but it requires completion of the expansion of the terminal. Est. date, 2020. I just wrote about this extensively a couple of weeks ago based on airport interviews.
