Sarafina's in Marigot

Does anyone have information on Sarafina's? We'll be in Saint Martin in 2 weeks. If Sarafina's is not open, any suggestions on an equivalent for French pastries in the Cupecoy, Maho or Simpson Bay areas?

La Sucriere in Simpson Bay.

I thought I read Sarafina was open, but I don't know. Otherwise, check out LeSuciere in Simpson Bay, right by the Fed Ex office. Great pastries and a nice little back deck by the lagoon where you can enjoy a pastry and a cup of coffee.

Can’t comment on the other areas but there's a great French bakery/coffee shop in the Cupecoy Village area more or less across the street from Fat Tony’s and in the same building as the spaghetti house but on the other end of the building if I’m remembering correctly. There’s a lot of enjoyable places in that area these days.....both eateries and snacky type places. We love BarCode for lite meals. Try the bakery - all of the goodies and none of the traffic if you’re staying anywhere near there.

LaSucriere is my favorite but Atlantico in Simpson is also top notch.

I miss the grain bread and fougasse at Sarafina's, but Jule's Bakery in Cupecoy Village, which Pat mentioned, has excellent croissants and quiche, fresh fruit, and makes LOTS of sandwiiches to go for folks. There is a new cafe in Maho on the Sonesta side, Cape Cafe, that serves wonderful cappuccino, croissants, and also makes healthy sandwiches. And also Cafe Atlantico in Simpson Bay, at the end of the block where the Druggist, WIB, and GEBE are has excellent bread, croissants, and coffee. None have the extensive dessert selection that Sarafina had.

Thanks, Wendy. I couldn’t remember the name but I do remember getting great breakfast pastries there last time we were in SXM, which sadly, seems like a lifetime ago. We hope to head back in late October and truly, we can’t wait!

And to the OP, I haven’t seen it mentioned but we always enjoyed the pastries from the ZeeBest bakery across from the airport and in fact, we often bought some to take home as we got our sandwiches for the plane. I hope it survived the storm.

It's open Pat. We also love to stop there when traveling for sandwiches for the plane, and a couple of almond croissants to take back to the kids. We only have pastries if we have family or friends visiting. Everyone wants to go to La Sucriere and sit on the deck with something sweet and buttery.

That is GREAT NEWS! I love their sandwiches. And it was my life's goal to make those two ladies smile! lol I finally won them over.

We take the sandwiches on the plane as well, and to the beach. Their prepared pasta or pesto salads are also good. Hubby sneaks in a pastry.

If you are driving thru Quartier d'orleans I would stop at Le Fruit à Pains Boulangerie (Quartier d'orleans, 4 rte nationale
97150 saint martin). Great Bakery that i stumbled upon a few years back and love. They are open and have been since Irma hit.

Thanks, Elaine. Good to know they're open. We also love their chocolate almond croissants. It's a darned good thing we're only there for limited visits - they are so very delicious.

Le Fuit a Pains is our absolute favorite on the island... daily morning ritual!

Le Fruit à Pains Boulangerie is a must!! Its everything a proper french bakery is suppose to be. Local and not commercial.

What about the Zee Best in Simpson Bay, next to the Pharmacy? Are they open?

Has anyone heard about Byblos?

Byblos is gone. In it’s place is a sushi restaurant. I think the name is Alina or something like that.
