Help - LaPlaya Not Reopening Until May

As the title say HELP! We had booked the month of March @ LaPlaya based on their planned reopening on December 10th. Well now December 10th is May 1st, so Kat and I are looking for a place to stay, maybe in Grand Case. Does anyone have a suggestion? We love the Grand Case restaurants but also want easy beach access.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Our friends were in similar situation for February. Katy (mgr of LaPlaya) managed to arrange rooms at Esmeralda. Perhaps she can do the same for you...

Grand Case Beach Club. We are booked for May. Our 6th trip there. It is right on the beach with a great restaurant.

Check Grand Case Beach Club ASAP they might still have rooms for March.

Grand Case Beach Club for then I would think would be way too expensive, compared to LaPlaya…

We stayed at La Playa in 2016 and looked at it for 2019 and noticed the price was more than double. Not sure if due to its going to be more upscale now?

Katy is a sweetheart and made arrangements for us to stay at Esmeralda as well. We stayed at Esmeralda for 6 years in a row and the quality of the rooms deteriorated while the price went up every year. The people at Esmeralda are very nice and CoCo's was always a favorite for breakfast and lunch but we are a bit gun shy about trying them again.

We are looking at a few options in Grand Case and the Beach Club along with BLEU EMERAUDE RESIDENCE look like good possibilities.

LaPlaya did extensive upgrades just before the hurricane and I know there was a price increase planned for 2018. Our original deal was at the old rates because we were booked for March of 2017.

OK, I didn't know about the upgrades there and the corresponding price increase. Hope you are able to find someplace. Frankly for that long a period of time, I actually think you'd be better off looking at someplace on VRBO or similar. Booking for a month through an owner, you should be able to get a better deal, plus you might be able to get more space than just a hotel room. Have you looked on VRBO? You might be able to get two weeks in one unit and two weeks in another, as probably you're too late to get one unit for the whole month..

We did end up booking a room right in Orient Village through VRBO. I think i remember places available in or very near Grand Case. This will be a first for us with VRBO. Good luck!

YEP ---Got it now but just couldn't get the letters to work for me. Looked it up on google then felt really dumb. Thanks for the help.

We've had good luck with the studios above the Plaza in Orient Village, got all of them from VRBO
