AA did it again - 04/27/2019 03:17 AM

Had first class tickets from Nashville Tn to Charlotte and on to SXM 7:05 in the morning. They canceled at 8:30 tonight and moved us to Sunday in economy. Said because of bad weather in Charlotte. 10 day forecastfor Charlotte is great weather until 40% chance of rain next FRIDAY!!!!!! mad mad

Wow. Not good.

Re: AA did it again - 04/27/2019 09:38 AM

The only current weather alert AA is showing is for Chicago. Unless one of the aircraft is coming to CLT from Chicago, weather should not be an issue. Another black eye for AA.

Re: AA did it again - 04/27/2019 11:45 AM

Frankly, I wouldn't accept that. May be too late now, but why couldn't they get you to SXM on another carrier today?? Of course today is Saturday, so maybe all the other planes were full. Stupid question I know, but are they going to give you anything for screwing you out of a day of vacation and your first class tickets? If they told you no, I would be on them about it when you get home.

I hope, when you finally arrive, that your vacation is smooth as silk..

I checked AA and did not see any delays or cancellations today that should have caused this. Not sure what happened.

I trust you demanded to talk to a supervisor. That usually gets results or calling back and getting a different person.

Somebody with pull wanted your seat❗️

Re: AA did it again - 04/27/2019 03:21 PM

Yes, was on the phone for 1 1/2 hours last night and have called this morning and waiting on a supervisor to call us back. Was on the way to bed last night to get up before the rooster crowed to get to the airport in time. Something told me to check the email before going to bed, which I never do....would have been very upset if we had gotten up and headed to the airport only to find this out in person. Uggggg😡😡

All of us who have these problems with AA should get to a supervisor and direct them to this website. Couldn't hurt. Best wishes for smooth sailing....and flying...after this snafu, DannynGinger.

Just curious, what were your actual flight numbers that were impacted?

With the impact of the Boeing 737MAX and the related schedule changes, I am sure AA is getting an earful on a regular and daily basis.

No every person has the luxury of multiple airlines and airports to choose from. For some, it may be their only option.

Re: AA did it again - 04/28/2019 02:03 AM

Absolutely. Not a lot of options for a lot of us.

Here is the president of AA's email address if you want to complain.

I doubt if he would ever receive it let alone personally respond to it. But good luck anyway.

Still no response to an email I sent three days ago. If consumer affairs doesn't respond, I doubt the president will either but good luck with it.

Worth the try. We had problem with USAir and I sent letters to the President, Board of Directors, Head of Maintenance . We not only got full refund of flight but vouchers for future flight, and drink vouchers with a plea that we'd continue to fly USAir. Well, we used those vouchers and after that never flew USAir again.

Re: AA did it again - 04/28/2019 06:05 PM

We used to fly AA all the time. Now I avoid them like the plague. Even now I can book flights to SXM on AA that hits my price point but will still wait for either JetBlue or Delta to come down in price.

Re: AA did it again - 04/28/2019 11:25 PM

I have to make a quick trip down next Saturday. AA is insane! Tried to go out of the smaller airports on a Saturday and gave up. BDL, HPN and SWF Were awful flights. As was JFK and LGA! I just don’t get it. So choices are Delta and JB. Again don’t get it, Delta was over 1000 for the most basic seat but for the same non stop jet blue was 462!!! But now JB is doing flights on Saturday’s within an hour of each flight out of JFK. I just don’t get that either!!!

Re: AA did it again - 04/30/2019 11:27 AM

Despite all the various theories....there's a very simple reason your flight and many others in southeast (including mine) were cancelled... Charlotte weather

Re: AA did it again - 04/30/2019 12:10 PM

There were strong winds, threats of tornadoes, heavy rain, and severe thunderstorm warnings in CLT all day Saturday and into Sunday. Not sure why your weather app didn't show that....

Re: AA did it again - 04/30/2019 01:04 PM

I am still having trouble understanding this as the Sat. flight from CLT to SXM went off without a hitch and arrived at 3:28. As I stated earlier, the only delays that appeared to be a problem involved flights coming out of Chicago. Not sure what happened as the original poster has not responded but is hopefully on the island. I did not see any delays on the AA site the morning of their flight involving Nashville either.

On another note, AA cancelled a flight from CLT to MIA so that may muck things up some later on.

And no response to my email from 5 days ago either to AA

I think AA has you on their radar and avoiding you. devil

Actually just got a response by email today. Basically just excuses and they do not understand the lack of notification either. Big surprise there.

I will post it on the other thread if you are interested in what they said.

There's wx and the 737max issues as well.

The 737Max is one issue B6 is glad to be free of.

Re: AA did it again - 04/30/2019 03:36 PM

I just rechecked my AA flights and made my food selections for our flight and re-entered my email notifications for each flight. So far all good.

Re: AA did it again - 04/30/2019 03:38 PM

Good deal.

Re: AA did it again - 04/30/2019 03:45 PM

Not trying to be difficult but what is B6? Racking my brain to figure that one out. And wx?
Posted By: ruralcarrier

Re: AA did it again - 04/30/2019 03:48 PM

I think "wx" is something with weather and "B6" may be JetBlue.

Re: AA did it again - 04/30/2019 03:53 PM

OK. Thanks.

Re: AA did it again - 04/30/2019 04:26 PM

wx is weather

dunno what B6 is

We fly AA all the time - have had good and bad experiences with them - same with Delta

mostly we choose based on schedule (first) and price - but our options are limited - basically to AA and Delta...

we don't have the luxury of ANY nonstops from our closest international airport - which is still just over an hour away from our town...

all of that to say that there are a lot of reasons to choose flights - AA has had a hard time of it lately because of the 737Max - it's a different configuration that the regular 737's and they just had no other choice, even before the FAA grounded them for them. I have zero issues complaining and griping when I've really been done wrong (rare - it did take me forever to get a promised refund from AA once - over a year, in fact) - but alot of the current scheduling issues really are out of their control

Re: AA did it again - 04/30/2019 05:17 PM

B6 is the airline code for JetBlue
Posted By: SXMScubaman

Re: AA did it again - 04/30/2019 07:25 PM

OK. Just saying Jet Blue would be easier for most to understand.

Re: AA did it again - 05/02/2019 01:53 AM

Sorry for the jargon. B6 happens to be what’s on the boarding pass next to the words JetBlue

B6 works for me Cappy, but I’m an outlier with more interaction with airlines than most. Unlike many others their ATC call sign is also JetBlue, same as the airline name. (E.g. Cactus, Speedbird, etc.)
