JetBlue may have gone to St Lucia because they have regularly scheduled service there. I'm not sure about the other islands between there and SXM. I think PR is their normal choice, but that's obviously not an option today. Air France landed with plenty of visibility minutes after 787 declared they were diverting.

Crazy, crazy weather this evening! Lots of wind, rain and thunder/lightening. For several hours. Had to get a ride home from Yacht Club from someone with a big car. Mullet totally flooded with cars stranded in the middle.
