Rendevous Lounge

Rendevous Lounge - 09/13/2019 11:34 AM

$20.00 prix fix
We have passed this unassuming restaurant many times on our way to Mario's and Altro restaurants.
Rendezvous Lounge is the first restaurant on the right side of Puerto Cupecoy marina that you will encounter after leaving the secured parking lot.
Probably was not expecting much as it looks very casual with the ice cream statue out front.
We overheard our pool friends telling people about thier meal at the R Lounge and was interested to find out for my self.
After 12 days on the island my wife's only critera for dinner was tuna tar tar.
Reasearched the R Loung menu to find that they not only offer tuna tar tar but also a happy hour from 5 - 7 PM.
Took a quick shower that only man can take and was out of Maho and parked in Porto Cupecoy in about 5 minutes.
We were greeted warmly by Patricia and seated under a large umbrella over looking the courtyard and marina.
After a couple of happy hour mojitos we persued the menu along with a $20.00 set menu.
Off the regular menu we ordered two tuna tar tars. Glad we ordered two as i know my wife would be reluctant to share. We joked with the staff that Rainbow had our favorite tar tar but that they were closed for vacation. They ensured us that we would forget about them and had faith in thiers.
The large glass snifter was filled with some lettuce and avocado on the bottom then topped with rough chopped cubes of pristine tuna. We won't forget about Rainbow as that is our favorite beach lunch haunt, but we now have a new favorite tar tar for diner.
There were plenty of nice looking choices on the regular menu, but we decided to order off the 3 course $20.00 set menu.
Offerings included potatoe skins, a salad and eggplant rolled with pasta inside.
We orderd a salad and eggplant only two be recommended to have two eggplant.
The recommendation was as good as the eggplant with a topping of the side of grated cheese that was delivered with the bread.
Entrees included a thin but juicey cut of beef similiar to a flank steak served with the traditional pommes de tere (french fries).
The pork tenderloin was just a bit overcooked but had a nice cumin spice and benefiited with the side of sauce served.
Portions were good and since we already had enjoyed two apppertizers, we wrapped our leftovers for a delicious lunch.
A scoop of gelato or a single expresso is offered to end the evening.
Service from Patricia and co server was attentive but most important inviting and helpful in menu choices.
There is word that the condos of the area are going to be changed to a hotel.
The nearby casino (smaller Starz) was nice to us and paid for half the meal. We hit for 5,768. It's a same we were on a 2 cent machine. Still not bad to win over $140.00 on a 50 cents bet.
Porto Cupecoy has many good options for different types of dinnig and the patrons are benefitting with low pricing in the off season.

We spent last St Patrick's Day here with friends and had a great time and great food. The staff dressed up in garb to reflect the holiday. Patricia is great!.

Upon arrival last visit we were early for check-in so we we drove here and had ice cream concoctions made with iced espresso that filled us completely.

Thanks for the report. Sounds interesting! So many restaurants, so little time!

They have a fantastic duo on Friday nights, Alfredo and Yonny. I think they start playing around 7.

Thanks for that info. We loved the vibe in Orient Village last time on Friday nights. Possibly this is similar?

Thanks. Having a prix fix offered at a restaurant is always interesting to order from and often rewarding..

We stumbled upon Rendevous on our way to Mama's Pizza. We arrived in Port Cupecoy to eat for the first time at Mama's Pizza (had heard some good things about them when they were in their other location). Mama's was closed and my group of 7 were tired and hungry. Quick look around and saw that Rendevous had a variety of pizzas on their menu. We were quickly seated, served and everyone enjoyed the various pizzas that we ordered. Pizzas were the thin crust type and all were very good. It was a nice setting and we enjoyed a walk around after dinner. In over 30 years, I think this was only the second time we visited the area. It's a bit of a hike from Divi and as Carol pointed out, so many places, so little time. We were there in July so the casino wasn't open but looking forward to visiting again in October.

We were there on Tuesday night. Rookie dealers being trained. Slow play @ blackjack. Kept me from losing my money so fast. LOL Slot play is a bit expensive as others have mentioned. Minimum bets are around $1.00 and up. The machine my wife played was $1.20 minimum. The multiple deck shoe used @ my blackjack table malfunctioned so much they replaced it. Didn't count the number of tables but they only had 1 BJ table open. $5 minimum. Right up my alley.

I can deal laugh with $5 minimums for blackjack. I think next time we will go have dinner somewhere there and check out the casino afterward. I assume, without knowing, that they have roulette also?

Wish the tables would open earlier.

When I was younger used to be able to 'party' all day at different beach bars.
Then get dressed and go out for dinner, more drinks and partying, casinos.

Last couple of times on the island I found I liked to have nice breakfast at Yatch Club is my favorite spot.
Then a nice lunch on the beach whether Pinel or Orient or Friars.
After breakfast I spend all day on different beaches till sunset.
But after going all day by the time seven I just want to go to dinner and get to bed.

Back in the day would hit Toppers, Sherrys, Sunset Beach Bar, every evening for drinks at each one.
If in Philipsburg used to hit up a few places on the boardwalk.
And a nice dinner somewhere then more drinks. (Toppers, Sherrys, Sunset none had good food.)
Evenings used to be like bar hopping.
Casino.

Wish the tables would open from 12 noon so I could gamble in between swims at Cupecoy.
