Beachside villas - 09/21/2019 10:41 PM

Have called phone number on their website twice and no response yet. Is there another way to reach them? We are Towers casualties and are looking for weeks feb 1-15 for 4 people and a 2 yr old. Would appreciate any help or ideas. Thanks so much!

Hi. Did you leave them a specific voicemail as to when you are interested in? You also might try sending them an email. I can't remember if their email address is on the website or not. It's definitely worth it to keep at it!

Re: Beachside villas - 09/21/2019 11:02 PM

Thank you Carol! I did just email them with dates. We are starting to become anxious since it seems sure Towers won’t be available.

Re: Beachside villas - 09/22/2019 12:17 AM

OK, hope it works out for you. Best wishes regarding the Towers.

Re: Beachside villas - 09/22/2019 11:09 AM

Just be a little patient. I find emailing is the best way to contact them. I'm sure Tracy will get back to you soon. She is a full time Mom with 3 early teens with many activities, especially on the weekends. She always responds. You will absolutely love BSV. I know other Towers casualties that have been staying there and just love it.

Hi, Vivian,

Wingman is absolutely right and as a former Mullet Bay persona, he knows from whence he speaks. You will love BSV if you do stay there.

Best way to reach Tracy is via email and while it might take her a day or so, she will get back to you. We never thought we’d find any place on island to compare with our #709 but BSV has done the trick. Hope you are able to work out the dates and make it happen.

Re: Beachside villas - 09/22/2019 04:04 PM

Thank you Pat and everyone else for your support and encouragement. Pat your experience with trying other places has made us realize that there could be other wonderful experiences besides the towers! I guess we are all pretty numb right now and probably have lost a good deal of hope about what the outcome of the towers will be. And I will look forward to hearing from Tracy

Re: Beachside villas - 09/22/2019 04:05 PM

What can we expect the beach there to be like. We have a two-year-old
Posted By: pat

Re: Beachside villas - 09/22/2019 06:40 PM

The beach has been somewhat rougher than I would personally enjoy but we’ve also been there when it was perfect, just like my idea of a ‘perfect Mullet kind of day’....... but just like Mullet, you never know what each day will bring. For a two year old - maybe not so great but that’s just my opinion.

Re: Beachside villas - 09/23/2019 12:48 AM

Thank you all for support and encouragement. Pat, your suggestion that there is any place as good as the towers landed on me. Hope we can work something out at BVS....will keep you posted.

Re: Beachside villas - 09/24/2019 01:03 AM

Hi Pat, I know you have stayed happily at GCBC. What is the best way to inquire, reserve there please?
Posted By: pat

Re: Beachside villas - 09/24/2019 03:26 AM

IMHO, the best way to work with BSV is via email. If Tracy hasn’t gotten back to you yet I’d try another email to:
Sxmbsv@gmail.com
and see what happens.

The rates and rooms as displayed on the Beachside Villas website pretty much tell the story right up to but NOT including availability for specific times. The thing is, it’s become an extraordinarily popular SXM vacation venue and that really is important info if you’re attempting to book there.

I wish you good luck and hope it works out for you but if not, you might also try the Royal Islander Club La Plage owners website. We were able to do two back to back weeks there in April and we did thoroughly enjoy both the property and the location and all it’s facilities.

Pat - VGerfo asked about reserving at GCBC, not BSV.

VGerfo - This is their website. >>>GCBC Link

Re: Beachside villas - 09/24/2019 12:21 PM

Wow! Sorry about that, Vivian, and TY, Linda, for pointing that out. When I saw it last night, it was late and we were just in from a long day of travel and visiting a very dear friend in an extended care facility here in Florida. It was late. We were tired and that’s all the excuse I can offer for now, but if you give me some time, I’ll probably find another one........ jester jester

We went directly to the GCBC website and booked it on line there but then I followed it up with a phone call to have a few specifics straightened out and a few questions that weren’t covered on the website answered for us.

We very much enjoyed our only stay there a few years ago. Parked our car on arrival and never used it until we left to head out to the airport. You will find it totally relaxing and the beaches completely suitable for a little one. Not so sure about the pool since it’s been redone since we were last there. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and our only complaint was the stay was too short.

Re: Beachside villas - 09/24/2019 01:49 PM

You might also want to try Air BnB St Maarten. We've found nice places there and are booked at two in January and February. Your February 1-15 is prime time in SXM and I think you're getting a late start looking for places. Good Luck.

Thanks for your input and suggestion Norm. We had been hoping that the Towers would become available to us but are realizing that reality is remote now.

VGerfo--have you heard back from Beachside?
Posted By: VGerfo

Re: Beachside villas - 09/24/2019 04:09 PM

I did hear back. They don’t have availability for the full time that we were hoping for. Thank you for asking Carol.
Posted By: Carol_Hill

Re: Beachside villas - 09/24/2019 04:20 PM

Sorry to hear that, for your sake. They do book up ahead of time in high season. Theoretically, you could do a split stay and stay somewhere else for part of the time? Although I know I certainly don't want to move during my vacation. Hope you find someplace great to stay!

Looking into la Plage...thanks Pat!

Re: Beachside villas - 09/24/2019 06:39 PM

Vivian,

Just as an FYI, we thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Royal Islander but my best recommendation, should you end up there, would be to rent on the Sonesta side as opposed to the Maho Beach road side to avoid most of the street noise.

With reference to GCBC, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves there and could have stayed there longer very happily if time allowed, but I should add, we were there pre-Irma when all the GC eateries were open and we used the golf cart for transportation at night to the different venues. It was lovely.

Re: Beachside villas - 09/24/2019 08:16 PM

Thanks again Pat that is really useful info. We have been staying at the Towers since it opened so we are in uncharted waters now and it’s not easy to know what parts of any resort are better than others. Does anyone know what Parts are best at Simpson Bay Resort which I guess used to be Pelican. We did stay there years ago and found the steep incline unpleasant. Are there parts of the resort where that isn’t the case? Appreciate any and all input.

Re: Beachside villas - 09/24/2019 08:50 PM

If considering Simpson Bay Resort, I would suggest you stay in the Villas which are closest to the Atrium Resort. No steep incline there and a very nice place to stay!

Re: Beachside villas - 09/24/2019 08:53 PM

Re Le Plage

The room numbers show your location - useful if you are renting

ie 4104 would be 4th floor - "1' means the road side of Le Plage and 04 is 4th room from the elevator
4204 would be the the same except the "2" means the sonesta side
Note when you walk into reception you are on the 2nd floor - rooms that start with one are on the ground floor - you walk out to the garden but no water view - the gardens are lovely and you have quick access to th epool etc
we've rented nboth sides - I like the evening / night water view from the "1" side - but the balcony during the day is hot, while the "2" side balcony generally has shade in the afternoon

Can't lose!

I usually don't make suggestions but if you are looking for something small and secure you might want to see if Belair can accommodate your dates and budget.
Also, it is likely that Divi could offer something for you to consider.

I would agree with Island Gem. We have stayed there numerous times and love the place. You should be able to find a room there.

The Villas seem to be what you want, all of that plus a lot more, 2 bedroom lock out unit, 2 full baths, huge balcony, all rooms have an ocean view (beautiful sunsets), and a huge swim up pool with a place for kids. Full kitchen with all appliances, dining area and large living room with huge TV. Casino and Isola restaurant across the street, many other restaurants walking distance and small grocery stores. Plenty of parking.

Sounds perfect. I tried to access information on my iPad because I am away from my Mac but I couldn’t do it. I guess their website us the best way to reserve? Thank you so much, I do realize it is very well located.

Grand Case Beach Club website shows availability for your February dates.

Online booking direct with the Villas of SB shows:

[quote]There is no availability in The Villas at Simpson Bay Resort for the dates selected. Please try another dates or try a different resort. [/quote}

..and Expedia says "sold out"

SBR is available...2BR unit for $1242 total cost (inc. tax) (direct booking with SBR 45% off)

Re: Beachside villas - 09/28/2019 09:26 PM

I really doubt that the Villas are totally sold out for that time period, but could be. I would check a couple of different online places, if they really want the villas.

I am indebted to all of you who have been so generous with your advice and suggestions. Today we were offered the possibility of a friends unit at RI. Need to work out the details and promise to post the final plan. Thanks soooo much!

Re: Beachside villas - 09/29/2019 12:40 AM

The Villas are all full ocean view, and that is important to me, personally. Many of the other units at Simpson Bay Resort have a view of nothing. PROVIDED the unit you are looking at, at Simpson Bay Resort has a view, the units themselves have all been redone recently, so units at the resort are good.

Re: Beachside villas - 09/29/2019 12:43 AM

Thanks for the additional info, Carol. The photos of the villas look quite nice.

Re: Beachside villas - 09/29/2019 01:04 AM

Vivian,

You will enjoy the RICLP but I hope you are on the Sonesta wing side.

Btw, Did you ever see my PM here? The flashing envelope by your log in name?

The kiddy pool will be great for the little one and they do have daily activities of one sort or another and as far as I know, if you are on the third floor or higher you will have a nice view. The restaurant is pretty good and the big pool is lovely.

Re: Beachside villas - 09/29/2019 12:03 PM

Just to add a bit of clarification on the view from Simpson Bay Resort. Most of the units, if not ALL of the units that have a view of nothing are studios and would not be appropriate for this request anyway.

The Marina Building has a full view of Simpson Bay as does the Flamboyant Bldg. which is on the beach The lower and upper B buildings have an SB view as well which is obviously better the higher the unit is. Some of the lower Bougainvillea units (upper B) have a nice pool view. If you are not inclined to walk up a hill then the upper B should probably not be your first choice. We "own" a 5th floor unit in that building and it is fantastic....and I am 70+ (just a little+)

The only building that I can say has a view of nothing is the Allamanda building which has some units that face a small pool but also has others in that building that face the tennis court and have a nice SB/sunset view.

Soooo....almost all studios have zip for a view but there are MANY one and two BR units that have a great view

That said the Villas are great but I wouldn't want a 1st floor unit because you are right on the same level as the path by the pool...and there is very little privacy with everyone walking by your open door. That doesn't bother some people but it would not make me comfortable. The upper units are fantastic....

I'm glad the OP found a unit at RI....have fun

This is great detail- thank you so much. I will refer to it again, I know, even if we don’t stay there this trip. If the Towers continues to stay closed I would definitely like to stay at SBR. Appreciate your taking the time....
