Where to park in Maho for JAX restaurant, etc.

Where to park in Maho for JAX restaurant, etc. - 09/25/2019 11:29 PM

We're at LaPlage again this year, so it's not an issue, but in the future, if we are staying at a different place on SXM and want to eat at a restaurant in Maho village, like JAX, Moulin Fou, Hole In The Wall, etc, where the heck do we park?

The garage at Maho will probably be open again soon...if it isn't already open. Also...there usually is parking along the street by the pharmacy....OR....go into the casino and valet it. Parking is usually not an issue.

I would beg to differ with Ed, as parking seems always to be an issue in Maho. But if you're talking next year, presumably the garage should be open by then. For this year, I will probably do valet at the casino..

Correct Carol. We don't do the Casino , hence we have to park outside in the big open parking area.

WAIT A MINUTE..... ARE YOU SAYING THERE'S NO PARKING RIGHT NOW FOR ROYAL ISLANDER MEMBERS AT THE UNDERGROUND GARAGE? THEY ALWAYS HAD PARKING THERE. WHERE THE HELL DO WE PARK WHEN WE'RE STAYING AT LAPLAGE?

We'll be there October 12 to 19, and we've always had paid parking for one full week in the underground parking place below Terrasse.

while there earlier this year went to maho several times and parked by Pharmacy each time. Never had an issue finding parking - though sometimes it was a longer walk than other times due to number of parked cars.

There is parking for people staying at Royal Islander only. They are not allowing outside guest to park there.

Parking is horrendous in Maho. If you don't want to walk a long way I guess you have to valet park. There are 4 or 5 spots for the Pharmacy, but they are for the PHARMACY. As soon as it closes, those spots go real quick.

Isn't there some parking back the road that runs off the main road and somewhat behind the pharmacy?

Can you pay for the casino to valet park you, and then NOT go into the casino, but just go to a different restaurant? Or, are there OTHER valet options in the Maho village area?

As of August, the big lots behind the pharmacy heading to PT Pirouette we’re still filled with shipping containers. But we could usually Find parking. There is always security right inside the “Mullet gate” if you must park near there. But valet at the casino is open to all restaurants in Maho. During high season on a few occasions they were full. But hopefully the la Terresse garage has been cleared out for those owners - construction containers and furniture was taking up space. No clue on the main Maho garage - but it wasn’t open to non guests as of August.

Occasionally you can get lucky. We couldn't even park to go to Mullet Bay Clinic until they brought back their security a few weeks ago.

David--Just valet at the casino, regardless of where you're going. I could be wrong, but I believe the owner of the casino is the landlord for all the businesses in Maho, so he's sort of getting the money, one way or another.

Given that this year you have access to the Terrasse garage, why stress over something in the future when more is certain to be open?

I guess maybe he's trying to decide where to stay next year, based on parking in Maho? That wouldn't be a big determining factor in MY deciding where to stay, but maybe that's not where he's going with it.

Not all are owned by Spadaro.

I didn't think the businesses were all owned by him, but I thought he owned the land? Maybe not. Regardless, when I go to Jax, I'll be using valet, unless I luck into a spot somewhere.

He does own all the land...with the exception of the space that used to be Cheri's.

Yes. I did it a couple of times in June/July. They ask where you are going; I told them JAX. There was no cost; just tip the guy when you return.

And contrary to a previous post, there is NOT always parking behind the pharmacy. One night I drove through the entire lot and there was absolutely nothing, nor were there any spaces along the side roads. I ended out going back to the hotel.

Interesting that they even asked you. The times we've used the valet, they never even asked us.

To be clear I am referring to the side road behind the pharmacy.

If I knew we could valet at casino for any/all businesses I would've done that. Good to know for next time - 1st ever trip to island was May this year and we are hooked! Booked our same apt as last time (simpson bay) and car rental already. Just watching airfare now - can't wait! smile
