What was the shopping service that delivered groceries to your room before you arrived? Does she also rent cell phones and drops them off to your room?

Shop n Drop Grocery - Jeannie Gee. I had a delivery on my arrival day earlier this week, and it's a wonderful service.

She no longer rents cell phones. Best to just purchase a cheap SXM phone or get a chippie sim card for your unlocked phone.

I bought one in March at Boolchands electronics in town. Around $100+/- depending on what you want. SIM card is $18-$30, depending on where you buy and that includes about $10 in credit at 15 cents per minute.

We bought ours on island also, as we weren't sure if our phone from before Irma would work, and it did not. The same phones can be had online at home for around half the price.

I checked the one I bought back in March and it was virtually the same price, online at home or here. I know when I was looking around here the prices varied a lot depending on the store. Amazon is currently $85 for what I bought and I paid $95 for it here in March. The prices drop as new models are introduced. Like any other purchase here, know your prices going in. Blue Point and some of the small electronic stores were as much as $50 higher.

BTW, I scored a really nice Cotes du Rhone at Market Garden yesterday for under $9. Their prices seem to be better than what I remember. Probably still better prices out there but it is convenient. The small store on the corner near Horny Toad used to have decent beer prices but they are way off the charts now and not busy.

OK. The one we bought was more down island than here. Other than for something really quick, I don't remember when the last time was that we visited Market Garden. For French wines, Super U or Leader Price has by far the best prices.

Tech Hub on Bush Road just inside the Carrefour was where I bought mine for a very good price and they offer excellent service.

I just replaced the one I "thought" I had lost (first purchased at Blue Point $100) and bought it at the UTS/Chippie store in town. It was $100 there as well (and a newer version). The SIM was only $10 to replace (had minutes and $$ on the old one still which they transferred).

For convenience I didn't care if I paid $10 more than the US or another tech store.

Where can we buy the SIM cards?

Many of the smaller groceries have them as does the UTS offices, Mailbox and some of the electronics stores. I got mine at the UTS store, they installed it and made sure it was activated and I think it was $18.

I got a Chippie sim card a few years ago, and just put it in my old smartphone when I upgrade.

This is what I was going to say.

I don't think you have to go to the expense of buying a phone for $100.

After we stopped renting one, We used one of ours, that wasn't locked, and bought a SIM.

On our last visit, we just used WIFI.
