Le Piment - 12/21/2019 05:42 PM

Is Christelle still at Le Piment? I read she was manager at another restaurant cannot remember name. Maybe Wai' Plage. She was passionate about her menu.

We certainly enjoyed our meal at Le Piment in June, although our best meal was probably at Cote Plage. Both were excellent. Better than anything we had in October, for sure..

We too will miss her. She is the best at what she does. At least Le Piment still has chef Sylvain who is responsible for all the great meals. He has been there for many years.

She will definitely be missed, she is the best. We will follow her for sure to Wai. ...but as you pointed out, Sylain is still there.... and Sarah is back!!!

We had an excellent pizza and salad there last week- BO pizza was just a tad better IMHO, Crispier crust. But tough to beat the ambiance at Le Piment!

Re: Le Piment - 12/31/2019 09:10 PM

I had no idea she wasn't an owner. The passion she had in the menu explanation was not to be beat.

We believe that she and Sylvain were co-owners. She spent many evenings at the restaurant and may care to be home with her family more often.

I'm sure she was an owner, as she told us she had sold her share and was going to open a new bar/restaurant on the beach

We had lunch today at Wai' Plage and spoke with Christelle. They opened on the 23rd and have taken off running. She is here usual self...greeting everyone and the new place is beautiful ! We plan on going back again before we leave. She is looking forward to working only days since they will close at 5.

Re: Le Piment - 01/02/2020 08:22 PM

Can't blame her for being happy to work only days! People in the restaurant business have a work schedule that doesn't allow for a life outside the restaurant, in many cases..

seascape--hope your trip is going well.

Trip is going great! I don't post a lot because I feel like it's all been posted before. New for us is staying at Esmeralda. I will post more about that later. We just love coming here and can't s ay how great it feels to see how much Orient has come back.

Not many reports from Es, so looking forward to hearing about that . Regardless, we all would love to hear anything about SXM!!!

Re: Le Piment - 01/03/2020 11:21 AM

One huge change since our trip in August is the welcome lack of seaweed! There is none on Orient as far as I can see and the water has been so calm. I have hip issues and I had no trouble getting in and out by myself. Weather has been perfect. The rain really came down on NYE and NYD morning but the rest of the days have been picture perfect with just enough wind to be comfortable.

Could you provide an update on Coco which is on the beach in front of Esmerelda and was in the reconstruction phase when we were there two months ago. The structures were in place but the finishing, decks, landscaping, etc had not been started. Antoine, who will be the manager, said that they had been delayed several months waiting for the special wood they had ordered to come from another island.
Returning in March and hoping it will be ready!

I actually took pictures of Coco today. Wish I knew how to upload them here. Looks like they are hard at work and I can see a difference since we arrived. lots of benches are cut and ready to be put in place.
