Am I correct that there is no travel insurance that covers a pandemic?

IF you purchase 'cancel for any reason' insurance, which is significantly more expensive than other insurance, it would cover Covid 19, because you don't NEED a reason to cancel. Generally it has to be purchased VERY near in time to when you make the original purchase of the travel. That is usually defined as something like within seven days of purchase. You could check with TTOL sponsor Insure My Trip to compare insurances side by side.

Now, a DIFFERENT question is whether any companies are even writing 'cancel for any reason' insurance right now. That I don't know, but Insure My Trip should know the answer.

By the way, if you click on the TTOL sponsor link for Insure my Trip, your cost is exactly the same as if you had gone directly to their website, but TTOL gets a small commission.

Thanks for the reminder about Insure My Trip. They have COVID-19 travel insurance information posted on their site.

I recently booked on both AA and Delta and one of them (the insurance they offer when you purchase) mentioned Covid-19 and it sounded like it was covered but may be changing. I do not recall which one as I did not read it that close.

When I booked an August 2020 Rhine River cruise through a travel agent she also sold us trip insurance Travel Guard. Now because of COV-19 I have a choice of rebooking for 2021 or 2022 and have this insurance extend to cover that trip or I can totally cancel the trip. It was costly though.

If it were ME, I'd cancel and get my money back. You could still re-book the same trip later on, depending on how circumstances are at that time.
