So, once again the devil is in the details...how about passengers from flights that originated in Florida, but enter from Atlanta/Charlotte?

Well, not surprising, given the current state here.

Appears to be that an unofficial announcement was made that all US flights postponed from flying into SXM as posted on Facebook.
Here is the Facebook link.

OK. The 'two weeks' isn't mentioned there in that graphic, is it supposed to be 'at least' two weeks, or will definitely open to US in two weeks? Of course, this is now I think the 4th change since the initial announcement..

It has to change based on #'s from the US. The plan of two weeks ago was before US went off the charts with their bad behavior. It is currently for two weeks while they keep watch on the US. So, at least two weeks.

Makes perfect sense and unless the USA gets their act together , perhaps a while longer ..

TDH article

https://www.thedailyherald.sx/islands/airport-opening-to-us-postponed-for-2-weeks

Just about everything we have done has been two week intervals. It's ever changing and they need time to assess consequences of each change. No different than anywhere else I expect.

We are doing real well in Ct., but I still see people not being careful--especially in SN where there are a few ice-cream
places and a street of outside dining. It upsets me, because we have been waiting so long to go out and want to see our grandchildren.

I saw some private parties on Facebook, in different states, with large groups of people -----far from staying apart and not one mask!!
It's just selfish....

I'm thinking SXM is going to be closed to US flights until the EU opens up to Americans. They do not want to force the French side to close the border. The issue with the EU closing to Americans is more about reciprocity. Macron has stated any country the EU opens to, there should be reciprocity for EU citizens as well. They wont consider the issue until the US opens to EU citizens.

Interesting that although there are some US states showing spikes when you compare the active cases growth in the US on 30 day time period April 30th (873,092 active cases) thru May 30th (1,176,427 active cases) added 303,335 cases over that time period while from May 30th (1,176,427) thru June 29th (1,435,851) there were 259,424 added active cases, so it would seem that the growth of active cases declined.

Nothing was said about needing insurance in that article.

That was in a link from this morning, before they changed the requirements, again.

Now all flights from the US are suspended for 14 days. We are supposed to leave July 13. American Airlines still lists our flight as active.

That is common. Probably not getting around to updating their site.

As long as the EU do not allowAmericans to enter Europe, St Maarten will follow along with the EU rules. I know the Dutch side do not have to follow EU law,but they are not going risk the French side of St Martin closing the border as they follow EU law, because the Dutch side allowed Americans in.

I asked this on another thread but I'll ask it here too. When Canadians fly are there flights to and from SXM that don't have a connection though US airports?

No Canadian airlines connect in the USA , going to SXM, if you are coming from Western Canada you will connect in Toronto or Montreal.
