People are coming !

People after having their Vaccine are increasing in numbers coming back to the Island .

To the best of your knowledge, are the majority of people living on the island still taking the COVID-19 directives seriously? I didn’t think about it then but when we were there in December it seemed that most were wearing their masks and sanitizing their hands, but when specifically questioned about it, I realized that even some of the restaurants, while requiring the servers to be masked, were allowing their kitchen staff not to follow suit. Any thoughts?

Hello Pat , The Island in general very serious about this situation and people are taking their Vaccines . I did my two and the last one on Tuesday mashed me up lol , but okay now and Wife did her first and second is next week. Stay safe, prayers for the World , you saw what happened in the Suez Canal unbelievable .

From what I've seen a various forum and pictures on Facebook at bars, restaurants and gatherings there isn't much compliance to mask and social distancing protocols. Lots of reluctance to getting vaccine from locals which is a red flag. We still plan on our 4 weeks in May but will pick carefully where we go.

Many planes arrived today. Airport was very busy.

I have noticed that the island seems busier this week. I've also noticed that many, many people wear their masks under their noses. Nevertheless, I still feel safer here than at home where numbers are soaring.

there were so many planes yesterday air France had to circle for around 25 minutes. They had nowhere for him to park. Grounds crew notified air traffic people to keep him up there. Noticed more people on maho beach on the webcam. Living vicariously through the lovely people posting that are there! Keep up the good work!!

Island definitely has picked up the last couple of weeks. Each of our three weeks is seeing more people....busier restaurants, and more traffic. Masks seem to be getting less and less daily. Restaurant staff mostly in masks, some ''chefs'' yes....others no. Since most restaurants are ''al fresco'', has lots to do with the masks. The spike in cases, is a bit disheartening, but i am more dreading our upcoming ''airport experience'' leaving than going home. I do feel safer on the island also. It does amaze me, talking to plenty of the locals here, how they are ''nervous'' about taking the vaccine, and many are choosing not to. Really wish the government would get more involved, both here and at home, to mandate every person to be vaccinated for the safety and health of others.

Anguilla too is busy, more people than at Christmas/New Years

It surprises me, too, Ed that some are unwilling to take the vaccine but that’s human nature. Personally speaking, I couldn’t wait to get mine and I’m so glad both doses are now behind me and I’m presumed to be as safe as one can be in these questionable times.

But I have to say, if there’s any ONE THING I DON’T WANT it’s having the Federal Government, or any government for that matter, mandating my personal health choices. The Feds are already sticking their collective noses into too much, IMHO, so please, don’t let them add that end of healthcare to their menu. As the saying goes, “MY BODY - MY CHOICE” and while I think people should have their vaccinations, it’s their personal choice, not mine, yours or Uncle’s.

All right guys, this is one conversation that we do NOT need to have here, whether to mandate the vaccine, as it will only go badly..
