Off to a Good Start

Off to a Good Start - 04/08/2021 12:54 PM

After arriving Tuesday and unpacking, we decided to grab an early dinner since we had gotten up very early to catch our 6:30 a.m. flight. Said we would drive through Simpson Bay and stop at the first place that sounded good. Ended up at Lee's. Other than the location, not much has changed. Knew they did not have live music on Tuesday night but was disappointed to hear they currently have no live music any night. I know that's good news to some but we always enjoyed a little music during or after dinner. And we know Austin who regularly performed there in days gone by. In bed before 9 as we were worn out. Yesterday (Wednesday) I got up and headed to the Super U in Marigot to pick up some French wine. Prices have inched up but I found several bottles in the 8 to 10 euro range that would do nicely. Also stopped at Monoprix in Marigot since they have some different beer than other places stock. Was pleased to find they have several US craft beers available and I settled on the Lagunitas IPA. Lunch was at Driftwood Boat Bar. We had the ribs which were quite good. I know someone had said they were served slathered in BBQ sauce but the menu clearly states you can order plain or BBQ. We ordered plain with sauce on the side and that was perfect. Afternoon spent at the pool. Was a mostly cloudy day with a bit of sun showing every now and then. Dinner at Pineapple Pete's. We got to visit with the head Pineapple (Pierre) as he has become a good friend over the years. Food was good and they had a guy playing the guitar (no singing) who was excellent. Added nice ambiance to the evening. Back "home" and asleep by 10:00. We will see what today brings.

One other thing......nothing was said about daily temperature checks when we arrived and we have received no emails. Not sure they are still requiring that.

No temp check mentioned for us upon arrival nor emails asking. We were there 3/25-4/4. Lees, Pineapple Pete’s and Dinghy Dock were visited on our trip also and food was very good.

We were supposed to get emails and temp checks for 14 days. We got 11, and then they stopped. They may have cancelled that without asking. It was crazy anyways....expecting people to take their temps, and sending them in.

I'm not Ed, but the concept that people would actually take their temperature and report it TRUTHFULLY, if it happened to be high, is kind of silly, to me.

The requirement for daily temperature checks is still on the official government website, as of now.

To answer the question directed to me. The crazy emails received for daily temps were a joke. If you hit the F button for faneheit, the only thing you could put in were the first two numbers. so if you had a 99.9 temperature, it only took the 99. Almost one degree of temperature makes a lot of difference. Then, I am in total agreement with Carol, expecting people to report a temperature accurately and HONESTLY is beyond crazy, especially when people's lives are at stake. IF a system like this would work, i think there could be a better implementation in place with more scrutiny. The resorts, the casinos all have infrared scanners now that take people's temps. Having this service run by qualified people, would make more sense. Expensive....probably! Safer for all.....YES!!!!!

Actually 99.9 would have registered as 100. We put in 97.6 a few times and it always went to 98

You would not want to know if your sick?????? If the end result is daily checking your temperature then I see no downside.

So your temp reads 101 and your not going to tell anyone..........?? we did it in February and the Island had a total of 44 cases at the time......... somebody's doing something right.

The downside would be possibly not getting home in a timely manner.

I was merely stating why some people may lie about THEIR temperature. I didn't say I recommended it.
