Thanks for posting!! I just saw this and went out there. Wow, I saw it take off and took some pictures, but missed the best part!! After it took off, it came back around and either did a touch and go or a low level flight over the runway! Man, I wish I had seen that!! I just heard a large noise and looked out and saw it out over Pelican..

Pretty cool. As a USAF Vet I miss seeing the planes. C-17 looks big but still the little brother to the C-5!

We saw this big fellow fly in as we hit the roundabout from the causeway.

Cheers, RickG

Sorry, it's back??? That was Sunday.

Edit, can't tell if it's the same plane or not. This time, will watch to see if it comes back around!

She just took off and flew right over our boat. She's a big girl!

Guess they didn't do a fly-over this time around. Cool to see in person, for sure!

Looks like the weather isn't optimal today.

I have never in my 39 years going to St. Maarten watched a US Airforce plane land in SXM. I did see a Russian cargo plane land after the hurricane in 1995 with a new generator for the island.

One of the car rental guys told us that normally when US planes land, they are bringing medical supplies. Anyone know whether that was the case this time? Interesting that they were there on Sunday and came back--either that, or it was a different plane. I couldn't tell.

Same Plane...

Re: US Air Force plane is sitting on tarmac - 06/23/2021 12:43 AM

Same type, different plane, and different tail numbers. Today's C-17 was Mississippi Air National Guard.

Re: US Air Force plane is sitting on tarmac - 06/23/2021 01:46 AM

OK, thanks. I couldn't see whether it said Charleston on the tail or not, to know if it was the same plane.
