It's a real problem everywhere. NYC and the five boroughs have been plagued with this since DiBimbo took office. To soft on these crimes. Here in the USA, you can buy a motorbike like going to the corner deli. BUT down there not so much. She said zero! How about Confiscating on the first offence . No tags, no insurance, no license? Now property of Sint Maarten/St. Martin!! Crush'm and dump'm!!!

It's a pity that the Minister of Justice of the island needs to send a correspondence to the Attorney General reminding him to do his job. The fact that they confiscated two or three bikes awhile back then just stopped doing anything further is unacceptable and resident's should be writing letters denouncing this in the Herald at every opportunity. I don't know how the police are getting away with dropping the ball on this subject. Has the rock thrower been identified and put in jail. Most likely not. Will it take an innocent person driving along in an automobile getting killed to get something done?

These bikers just seem to be getting further and further out of control. I hope they will finally do something about this. I get kind of nervous whenever I see a biker on island, worried they will do something crazy and cause an accident, etc..

Other than the Gendarmerie on the French side, I cant say I have actually ever seen any real police or police work on either side. I’ve seen some cars on both sides, but nothing that looked like there was any organized intent or purpose.

The Gendarmes look forceful. They have patrolled in trucks over the many visits and we’ve seen minor stops in Orient Village and other places.

In July 2021, when I though Covid would stop normal work, they had a major checkpoint leaving Grand Case one afternoon. Maybe 10 cars or trucks and a couple of them looking at cars a 1000meters before you saw that real checkpoint. Speeders, drunks, bank robbers, mask non-complyers, who knows but they are the only officials I have seen anything to put faith in.

Not even sure how you call the cops on either side of the island? 911?

That is an excellent idea.

Maybe a two nation UN peace keeping force.

I know the two nation character is what we all like, but there are serious inefficiencies in just about every aspect of life including crime fighting.
