Verifly?

Verifly? - 11/11/2021 05:56 PM

Verifly is American Airlines' app where you can supposedly input your trip information, get the requirements to travel there, and then upload that in some way to simplify the check-in process. I've created my account, taken the required selfie, and now want to input my flight information. This is the most confusing app I have ever tried to use. I can't figure out how to input my trip! Has anyone here used the app successfully? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I may have answered my own question, as further research finds that Verifly can only be used for the destinations that are already listed on the app. SXM isn't one of those.

Read the fine print on this one, Georgia. I did and didn't like the "privacy" issues. Decided to not enroll.

It's of little to no value anyway.

I learned that, too.

Four of us used last Saturday when leaving SXM. It worked PERFECTLY!!! None of us ever had to show ANY paperwork, not even our negative Covid tests. The Verifly app examines the covid tests, lets you fill out you attestation digitally and then issues a digital pass with your pic on it. You show the verifly pass to the airline attendant, and go straight to the ticket counter with no further questions. I highly recommend it!!!

It may not work flying in, but it works great flying out!

'go straight to the ticket counter'?? Or do you mean, straight to security? Did you get boarding passes before you got to the airport or did you still have to stand in line to check in, even with it?? When we left SXM the first week in October, the line was such that we almost kept walking up to the ticket counter, although we did have to stop for a few seconds while they looked to see that we had our Covid tests.

Hi Carol, We breezed through the entire process. We didn't have printed copies of our covid tests, which concerned us. It didn't matter, because the Verifly Pass on your phone meets all the requirements. At no point were we ever asked for our covid test results or our attestation form. The Verifly rendered all that unnecessary. I was skeptical, but pleasantly surprised!

OK, I do wonder whether part of it was that there were no lines in general. When we left SXM in October, we were sitting at the bar in approximately 20 minutes from when we arrived at the airport, and we definitely did not do that.

I was more interested in using it on the trip down, as our flight departs at 6am.

Did you get your boarding passes on your phone, or did you have to get them at the counter?

Re: Verifly? - 11/12/2021 01:40 AM

GaKaye, No, we checked bags and got our boarding passes at the counter.

Carol, it was a Saturday, so there were lines, but we had priority boarding on American.

For me, the point is using Verifly saves you from the process of having your documents examined at the airport. No shuffling through papers or swiping through different screens on your phone. Have your Verifly app open to the Verifly "pass" that shows your pic with the check mark. One quick glance and the document checkers wave you on.

My understanding is VeriFLY is only used on the return to the US. I did not use it as the rating on the app were 1.5 outa 5

OK, thanks. To me, doesn't seem to be worth it, but your mileage may vary..

Thanks. We won't have bags to check, but it still sounds like a benefit. I tried to fill it out for our return flight, but the calendar only goes through November. Seems like the app has a lot of bugs at this point.

We have used Verifly with mixed results from both SXM and CUN. But, in my opinion it will make your experience at PIJA easier on your return flight.

Used it twice this year when returning to the States from St. Maarten. As others have said, allows you to show your verifly approval on your phone rather than pulling out and showing documents. Given the luggage we are lugging through the airport, it's nice not having to deal with paper documents.

Well, after all my protestations, I broke down and set Verifly up on my phone. I plan to use it at PJIA tomorrow. What with the attestation, vax card, and test result, it makes sense to have it digitally in one place. However, not the easiest app to use.

It was five weeks! Perhaps another trip report when I get home . . . .

Yes, I knew it was a really long one, but they all seem to fly by! Looking forward to hearing more about it.
