Returning to the US

Returning to the US - 06/23/2022 03:02 PM

Thanks to everyone here, I think I understand the current proceedure for going to SXM.
We are fully vacinated and I understand that testing will not be required to return to the US.
My question is, what exactly is required for us to return? Do we simply show our vacine card at the airport or is there a process to do ahead of time?
Sorry if this has already been answered.
Thanks...

Compskier--We came home on AA on June 20. A day or two before our flight, we both got an email from AA, wanting us to complete some contact information for after we returned home. I ignored it, figured they wanted me to do Verifly cr*p, so I deleted it. Eric got the same email, and he actually filled it out. They wanted our home address and phone numbers in the States, for after we returned. He filled it out and checked that the information was the same for everyone on the reservation. The email said that we couldn't check in without the information. I don't know if it was correct or not. Interestingly, we did NOT get an email from AA at all about checking in. We figured we couldn't check in online anyway, so weren't that worried about it.

Once we got to the airport, which was around 2:30 for a scheduled 4:45 flight, (which supposedly was going to be a half hour late leaving), there was a person standing where we entered to get in line who confirmed that we had our Covid cards and our passports. There were only about 4 people in line in front of us. We showed our passports and our Covid cards again to the check-in agent and that was it, checked in. From there, the security line was non-existent. (Our flight was literally the LAST big plane leaving on that day.) We were sitting at the bar by 3 PM.

Just returned from Orient Beach. For checking in, per CDC guidance, you must provide contact information to the airlines before checking in/boarding a return flight. You no longer need a COVID test. Depending on how frequent you travel (and how your profile is completed with your airline), at most right now you'll need to confirm/fill out your passport info, fill out the contact information, and then you should be good to check in. Completing this in advance will allow you to check in online, otherwise you'll need to do it at the airport. I completed this in advance, checked in online, and went straight through security skipping the check in counter.

You don't need to use Verifly for the return. I used it for the trip out so I could check in online - I much prefer my mobile boarding pass and then just head right to the gate - assuming you aren't checking bags smile

We always check bags, so I think that there's no way to avoid the check in line.

Ah, very true. A week at Orient beach means I can pack very light smile

Kelly--Perhaps when we stayed at Club O, maybe we didn't check bags, but we probably still did! laugh Of course back then we used to have two full sized carry-on bags each, packed to the brim! duh

And there are items now you just have to check. Not like before 911.

Compskier- Traveling on a holiday weekend, you could find airports very busy and if you are returnig from SXM on a Sat. or Sun. it can be very trying.
