Thursday, Friday and Wednesday dinner

Thursday, Friday and Wednesday dinner - 03/25/2023 06:30 PM

Wednesday we at at le Bistronome which I think I already posted

Thursday dinner with friends at Ocean 82. Even though we had rsvp we felt rushed. Got the only empty table stuck in a corner. Food was great! We all started with Caesar salads followed by beef cheeks in wine sauce served with creamy, cheesy rice. Desert was for hubby and I their delicious light leman concoction. Sort of a thick lemon mousse shaped like a lemon. Shared a bottle of Bordeaux . $154. Per couple. Too high I think.

Friday dinner Auberge Gormand. Romantic, table for two against wall so we could survey everything. Free Champagne cocktail to start. Hubby had another Caesar salad and said it was the best so far. I had cream asparagus soup with a large scallop floating in it.

I had duck breast in wine sauce with veggies and mash potato. Hubby had veal chop which he said was cooked to perfection. He knows he has to watch his red meat intake so this will be the last he has this trip. We each had a glass of Shiraz wine.

We passed on dessert but out came a cream puff stuck with a sparkler for our wedding anniversary. Auberge was just opening 43 years ago and was the first place we ate on our honeymoon. $135.

Grand Case was crowded and restaurants were turning people away. Moral is make reservations.

All sounded good and not too much to pay for Grand Case dinners.

Thank you taking the time for your reviews.
We are looking forward to trying Bistronome on our next trip in August as it is different that the typical GC restaurants

I would love to fine a fine dinning restaurant in the United States where I could enjoy a bottle of wine, a full meal with service included for $154.00
In Pennsylvania there is a standard 300% mark up on wine and rarely see a bottle priced under $60 unless it is a bottom level wine.

Considering that 15% service is built into the price that brings the food / beverage bill to about $133
back out say $60 for wine and food costs is about $73.00

I know I am dinning out tomorrow night in Vermont and entrees are $40.00 and up.

I would consider $154 very reasonable for a wonderful dinning experience

Be Kool in Marina Royal Marigot has for 3 years now topped meals in GC. For us. In a previous post I think I said the bill was &104.Apatizer,s of onion soup one salmon entree and a sea bass, no dessert but 2 glasses of wine. You must try it.

We generally share a bottle of wine, so $150 a couple if really pretty common for us. The food definitely sounds good though!

Thank you dear. Yes I think we spent more last year here.

Speaking of prices not only do I think groceries are less here than at home but Super U was even less than Carrefour

Ron Don,

Appreciate Be Kool recommendation.

We certainly wouldn't venture for dinner but maybe good for a rainy day lunch.

Ironically, I am pretty sure it is in the location of one of our very old favorite restaurants Le Chanticleer

Same place. Sadly, Le Chanticleer closed up just before our arrival, as I was looking forward to enjoying Ina's cooking again.
