Where to GO --- Looking for Quiet Beach in Cayman

Any recommendations to spend a few hours at a nice quiet beach in Cayman Islands? Looking to sit on beach chair by the water and chill out. Not interested in snorkeling or taking a tour.

Will be one the ports on our cruise next month.

Rent a car and drive to the east side of the island and stop wherever you see a nice beach. (sounds like my last post on Cozumel! LOL)

Rum Point is the place to go. Total serenity!

Agree with Rum Point if you have at least 5 hrs to spare. Rent a car and drive (45 min easy drive), beautiful beach and great food and home of the original mudslide.

If you have less beach time it's a short taxi to Smith's Barcadere (formerly Smith's Cove), nice little beach with tables and trees and restrooms.

Rum Point itself will likely be crowded, as NJGirl stated she is on a cruise ship. While the East End in general will likely be uncrowded, it is a bit of a drive and requires a rental. Id take a bus to Tiki Beach on SMB. Immediately leave the area and walk north up the beach until it gets uncrowded. It wont take long to find some uncrowded area to enjoy.

Not many day visitors get to Rum Point except for some excursions that stop in. It can be crowded on weekends because locals are there, but we've found it pretty quiet on weekdays when staying on the island. The Wreck grill also has the original mudslide, and a great fried grouper BLT.

If you don't want to rent a car just taxi to Smith's Cove, or bus/taxi north up 7 MIle Beach to Coconut Joe's Grill which is across the street from the Marriott. There is a condo property between the Marriott and the Royal Palms Beach Club. You can relax on the beach (under the tree if you're lucky) as the beach is open to the public near the water. Then stop at Coconut Joe's for a bite and drinks. Great specials and a fun spot across the street from the beach and hop a bus back

Most of the south side beaches would probably be empty, depending on if it's a weekend or weekday.

lots of mention of "taking a taxi". How much should we expect to pay for a taxi on a trip to Rum Point?

FYI, Tiki Beach is closed. Spotts Beach is a nice place to chill. Nothing there but a port-a-potty, a few cabanas and dock. Smith Cove Bacadere is another small beach, only about a 1.5 miles from port. had a bathroom and outside shower.

IMHO, Rum Point is too far and would be a LOT of your available time. Besides, it's really just a tourist trap. Tim, read the reviews before you do that.
Smiths Cove is a great little beach but quite small with no facilities. Spotts is beautiful, but perhaps again too basic for many / most. That's a great snorkel place though! If you want chairs, umbrellas, and facilities, thee are several large beach bars on SMB that cater to cruisers.
Best to do is look at Trip Advisor and get lots of recommendations and reviews.

Cemetary Beach, north of Seven Mile Beach, is not crowded and beautiful. No facilities. There is shade. You could take a cab there and arrange for a pick up at a specific time.

We went there a couple days on our last trip. Really enjoyed it. The shade trees were great, as were the sunsets!
