Very nice.
We visited this boat at the Annapolis boat show and it's beautiful!
I particularly liked what they did with the upper deck. Much more usable space than comparable boats.

Can you give us any hints about what amenities you're going to install before she goes into charter?

We liked it too, except for the lack of a hard top bikini over the helm. Good for chartering though.

Pretty good job of condensing the Leopard 46 overall design into a 44 foot package, then making some improvements. Best new feature I liked were the skylights in the main salon. I'll be surprised if more builders don't start adding those too.

Twanger she is going to be very similar to Moonshadow. Full air conditioning including the heads and coffin berth. It will only have one coffin berth. Northern lights genset. Outlets at the beds 12volt and 110. The rear sunscreen like moon shadow as well.

Yes the boat is here in St Thomas. I took this shot from the top of a mast this week while changing an anchor light on another boat. It is going to be a great charter boat. I did a short sail check yesterday in the harbor. It's a very nice boat, sails well.

That's Steele The Wind, our 50 Jeneau Deck saloon. Not to shabby either. Gen air fridge freezer ice maker huge sails and a folding prop. Not your typical charter boat.

I am already starting to dream about next Thanksgiving -- planning at least 10 days down there and have never sailed out of STT -- with the way the ferries are behaving these days, might make sense! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />

I am biased of course but you should call Kirsten. It is so much easier from St Thomas. Ten days is perfect, sleep aboard first night provision, eat drink and be merry in Frenchtown. Brief at 8:30 the next morning. Dinner in St John. Then six or seven days to bounce around the BVI and an easy downwind one or two day ride through St John's national park on the way back and a ten minute cab ride to the airport from your boat.

CaptainJay - Very nice. I can't wait to charter her!

I'm sure you and Nancy are doing a fine job fitting her out.

Is she fast? (The Helia, not Nancy!) <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Laugh.gif" alt="" />

I found the Orana 44 to be almost shockingly fast.

We were just saying' that we don't have a trip planned.

Next year the wife and I will have been hitched for 25 years (Oct 9th).

Not sure I could make this as 25-th Anniversary trip though.
Might have to do two vacations next year...
I like the sounds of that! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Clapping.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Banana.gif" alt="" />

[color:"red"]I wonder if the new Helia 44 will be allowed to go to the SVI? (Any thoughts CaptJay?)[/color]

Re: It's been here about a week now. - 12/13/2012 11:21 PM

There'd be four of us aboard, two experienced Captains, I think CaptJay would do it, especially since your a repeat customer!

25 years?!

Jim & I would be witnesses for your renewal vows - that would make it special! ~grins~

Re: It's been here about a week now. - 12/14/2012 03:44 PM

I dropped John (the owner of CYOA) a note and he said the Helia is cleared for SVI.

Hmmmmmmmmmm..... the plot thickens... <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/pirate.gif" alt="" />

That's a huge boat for just two couples. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Yikes.gif" alt="" />

We can go smaller - and I'd prefer a mono anyway, but up to you!

It was great to have a tour of the boat before our charter in Jan. I thought all the storage was great and having a refrig out in the deck area. Accomodations looked fantastic. Ran into the owners on Virgin Gorda and only complaint was that the Admiral had put food in the outside refrig. I have no doubt this is high on our list for our next charter.
