Re: Miami - 09/08/2017 06:28 PM

Yes, for sure. We won't really have a problem with water, unless the roof comes off, but we expect to lose electric. And since the generator decided to quit on us, that's not good...

Re: Miami - 09/08/2017 06:42 PM

I feel for all those who decided to leave later. They are running out of gas on the road, no gas hardly left in Fl. so now what do they do? Sit in their car and ride the storm? A car is certainly not a hurricane shelter! They have certainly put themselves in harms way!

Re: Miami - 09/08/2017 07:31 PM

It's quite crazy. People started sheltering at MIA.
Now you cannot go in without proof of flying.
Plus parking their cars there!

Re: Miami - 09/08/2017 07:58 PM

I wish you would leave, Irina. It's very scary.

Re: Miami - 09/08/2017 09:04 PM

Too late now Carol. 5 PM said it will hit as a 5 and may take out 7 mile bridge.
We are on the dirty side but at this point not direct hit.
We will be safe in side concrete inner room.
It's very scary. And neighbor didn't put his crap away. So pissed!

Re: Miami - 09/08/2017 11:15 PM

Thanks.
Waiting is unbelievably horrible after seeing what damage this thing has caused already.

Re: Miami - 09/09/2017 12:18 AM

Agreed, although we are still boarding up, etc., so not really just 'waiting' yet..

Feeder bands sporadic. Jim Cantore downtown. That used to mean the storm would be repelled but I think Sandy knocked his mojo out.
Tree branches on roads. 25,000 without power in Dade. This is the feeder bands. Irma still in Cuba.

Re: Miami - 09/09/2017 09:04 PM

Take care and let us know how you are, when you can!

We finished up boarding about an hour ago, pretty much all ready to go, kind of hoping the old gal holds out for a while so we can see some football games tomorrow and have some enjoyment, before we're out of electric for who knows how long...

Re: Miami - 09/12/2017 05:08 PM

No internet. Maybe today! Well, you all saw our building on tv and online..
We were swamped by the bay. Water pouring into the street for miles. Down the elevator shafts. No elevators.
BUT Impact Glass windows were great. They held in our building. Power stayed on. We are kind of stranded because no one wants to use the stairs. I drove down from 7th floor to go to office to use wifi.
Sea water all over the street and it's contaminated.
We have major cleanup but Krupp is here and ServPro is here and things are moving.
How did you do Carol? Sisters in Wellington and Pembroke Pines lost power. Did you?

Re: Miami - 09/15/2017 02:06 AM

Glad you're OK and the power stayed on. Ours is still off, borrowed gen running, sort of..

Re: Miami - 09/15/2017 09:01 PM

Well, building next door has no power. And building down the street has no power. FPL said they would finish the east coast by Sunday and move west.
After all their BS about how prepared they were.
They need to bury the lines.
Hang in there Carol! Did Eric get ice??????????
Posted By: Carol_Hill

Re: Miami - 09/16/2017 01:37 AM

We got some ice and a GENERATOR from a friend of mine whose power came back on. As of 8 PM tonight some people here in our town have reported getting power back, so we are optimistic that we will have power back by tomorrow.

Re: Miami - 09/16/2017 06:48 AM

Ok then. It's 2 am here and I am not sleeping.
Ice is needed for cocktails and generator for shutting off and sitting in dark.
I know you have ac too!
Hold tight. This is real safari.
Night.
