Honeymooners on Royal Caribean boat. Husband dead, wife seriously injured.

Folks need to assess risks of all shore excursions. It may be me, but recent excursion experiences indicate to us that our safety is not as good as it was in decades past.

You need to assess things yourself because maybe someone else really isnt.

Agree completely. Living in the United States, we sort of expect that laws and regulations are going to be in place that require businesses to look out for the safety of their customers -- as well as agencies that provide oversight to insure that the laws and regulations are enforced. But that just isn't even a little bit true in a whole lot of the countries that are visited by cruise ships. You have to realize that you are not in Kansas anymore, and that you need to carefully judge the risks for yourself. This was a horrible tragedy, but my hope would be that it opens the eyes of some people and makes them think about these things.
