Trip report 3- CGB x 2 - 04/07/2016 09:15 PM

Off we go from the hook Cane Garden bound. ..weather spectacular and in no time we are rounding the corner and checking out our options to escape the north swell. found the perfect ball to the far left of the field and got settled quickly . Can not wait to walk the strip and enjoy this gorgeous beach...No sign of the [censored] so it must be a non cruise ship day...bonus. No disrespect to those of you who love cruises ...just not my thing.

First order of business is re provisioning...gather up our recyclable bags and in we go. the repaired dock is awesome .

We re provisioned at the spot beside Quitos ...

http://www.bareboatsbvi.com/tortola/pleasure-boat-rentals.php

and it was awesome...had tons of great produce and pretty much everything we were after. ...remember we are " cooler people" and bring our meat from home. so easy to just walk a short distance to the dock and back to the boat vs slugging it all from Bobby's

Everything stowed and in we go for some serious beach strolling and relaxation. So excited to be back here.
Afternoon magic....beach chair, have beer, have swim ...repeat ....a few hours later and all the problems of the day ( which were very few to begin with) melted away....

Excited to get our green on and meet up with friends for happy hour so reluctantly tear ourselves away from the spectacular beach to get cleaned up....I love this view especially as the sun begins to sink in the late afternoon and twinkles on the dancing water...

[Linked Image]

So excited to meet up later with fellow TTOL friends Tracy and Chris ( tradewinds) Candace and Malcolm ( Manpot ) for St Patrick's happy hour .

The beach has now taken on a beautiful amber as the sun begins to sink....I am in my happy place.

[Linked Image]

Met up with our friends and settle on Quito's.. we are getting our green grove on.

[Linked Image]

love these people...

[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

Awesome happy hour snacks...we had the cracked conch and pizza and the musician Marcus Mark rocked the house ....the band later was also,wonderful...forget their name but just can't get enough of those steel, drums . ...had a fab Irish time .

[Linked Image]

Safely back to the boat for a night cap then call it a night ...we have a car rented for the morning to explore Tortola ..can't wait

Awaken and marvel at the surfers on the breakers at the point...the swell is up a bit more today....long slow period tho so not too rolly in here.

[Linked Image]

All ready for our day of land explore adventure ...the swell has made the dock a bit tricky for the dinghy so we get landed and Ward secures to the boat and gets a lift in...our new dinghy would have taken a beating on that dock with the surging up and down waves all day...rented from Quito and easy peasy .

first stop...a construction site of course...mr Ward can never resist this stuff..Brandywine Bay is being dredged apparently...and the boys were quite interested in the operations.....me on the other hand ...at least I could walk on a beach in this constriction site and take a few pics.

[Linked Image]

Next stop tico's for some vino....pretty good selection and cool antique shopping too at the back . Neat store. ....now to find the local bar of a friend " Shots and Schaefer" ...found it and in for a beer with the locals. this spot is a local drop in and opens at 6:30 . a good source explained that locals head in for a shot and a beer before they go off to work...breakfast of champions?

Andrea was not in but her beautiful daughter Jasmine was a gracious host.

A little visit to Parts and Power for some boat stuff then off again...next up the marine school and boat museum .... Very cool and worth a visit

A little history lesson for you....

Oh look there seems like a little boardwalk path over there ..let's check it out..
Nice little stroll through the mangroves was a cool break .

Back out on the crazy roads...those hair pin turns are interesting but Ward is like a pro now...just glad I'm not driving. next stop Sage Mountain. we don't have time to climb today but went in to check it out. the view from the parking lot is pretty nice...

Met Jim who runs the gift shop and little bar/restaurant there. What a great guy ..makes the best rum banana smoothy he says....well OK didn't have any fruit with breakfast this morning so need one ...it was yummy .
..this Brit says he has been here for almost 30 years..Lucky I say... He then says something very wise . luck has nothing to do with it. if you don't like where you live or the situation you are in change it...only you are in control of your destiny. words to live by ..

Off again, next stop Josiah's ...just love Miss Naoimi and her delicious roti's I had the conch variety and wow was it good....and the honour bar Carib was not bad either....

it was a red flag day at the beach...some surfers trying to catch some waves kept us entertained for our visit

Where to next? Can't show newbies around without going to the famous Bomba shack for a drink. ...Bomba was chilling across the road in his vehicle as usual . tons of folks here surfing ...the roads were packed with vehicles. stayed for a beer and watched the surfers doing their magic on the rolling waves. looks like so much fun...

Ok the day is moving on and so must we....next up..Bananakeet.
snagged a table next to the rail for a drink . the sunset is shaping up...
Best sunset spot ever. had my first Dark and Stormy of the trip...

...to die for .

Can't stay for the sundowner shot as we have dinner plans at the Elm with our friends...gonna meet up with Tracy,Chris, Malcolm Candace and Blue moon Jim, his lovely wife Joyce and their crew Mary Ann ( TTOLer Mappy) and hubby Leo for the BBQ and live music.

The BBQ was fantastic , the music outstanding and the company even better. what a great start to the evening....what's even better? Quito is playing with his band later...Ok must go ...danced the night away . I think Joyce and I are twins separated at birth ..had so much fun with you and Mary Ann .

Awesome blog - thx for sharing! This is good medicine to ease the next three+ weeks until our departure. Cane Garden bay is one of my favorite places on earth. Had one of the most pleasant afternoons drinking pain killers, swimming, dancing, lounging. Wish I could remember the name of the beach bar we ate at but the pizzas right on the beach were amazing and great value. Can't wait!

Great post. Bananakeet's been on the tentative list for the last 3 years and for the last 3 years we haven't made it up there/ It's now on the must list.
