Glad they are returning to the Carribean. Season 3 in the Med was not so good.

I watched some of the first (?) season when they were in St Maarten. A lot of the time I just watched with the sound muted. Nice pictures. Really stupid show.

Back in January my wife and I were having a late night at Nanny Cay when the cast showed up for drinks and filming. We ended up having a few cocktails with them and talking about the upcoming new season. They were all very friendly and took a bunch of pictures with us. Looking forward to watching the new episodes.

It sounds like there was a lot of coverage filmed at Leverick and I sure hope it makes it in the show. It's always exciting to see our favorite places on TV.

They were filming at Willie T's when we were there in late February, 2016. Should be interesting.

I would sign up my group of girlfriends for a Below Deck in the BVI!!

Re: Bravo Below Deck - 09/08/2016 12:31 PM

Sunnykm, I'd sign up too! Except I don't think there'd be enough drama with my group to air on TV <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />

Re: Bravo Below Deck - 09/08/2016 04:32 PM

lol! we sometimes have drama <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Yikes.gif" alt="" /> no one has been thrown off the cat, so there's that going for us <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Joy.gif" alt="" />

Re: Bravo Below Deck - 09/08/2016 05:48 PM

With my group you'd have a tough time filming enough footage to fill an hour of family-appropriate TV... unless the network were switched to HBO or Showtime late night <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Devil.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Devil.gif" alt="" />

Re: Bravo Below Deck - 09/08/2016 08:00 PM

Not sure I'd call Below Deck "family appropriate". There's plenty of "F Bombs" and risqué eye candy <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Yikes.gif" alt="" /> Very interesting!

Re: Bravo Below Deck - 09/08/2016 09:04 PM

Yeah, I'm thinking that whoever called it family appropriate hasn't watched it much!! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Laugh.gif" alt="" />

Re: Bravo Below Deck - 09/09/2016 12:15 PM

They were at Nanny Cay a couple of years back, nice enough folks. I tried to get through an episode when we were home...could stomach no more than about 15 minutes.
On a happier note, Capt Lee must be up for a saint-hood for putting up with some of the crew!

Re: Bravo Below Deck - 09/09/2016 03:34 PM

This week's first episode featured the yacht's guests (all women and some topless) jumping off the Willie T. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Yikes.gif" alt="" />

Hey!! I am grateful SJ found the Below Deck Med opportunity email! I would love to be on Below Deck in the Caribbean and have searched for info to submit my group of girls, but haven't had any luck finding it. Now hoping he can find the interest form for Caribbean and we can bring our Housewives of California to Bravo! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Groovin.gif" alt="" />

Don't understand the hatred targeted at StormJib. His posts are very often informative. Also don't understand why his posts are held back from being published even though the thread shows he has posted a reply.

Most likely because he always just cuts & pastes copyrighted material & the owners of this site don't want to get sued.

Re: Bravo Below Deck - 09/10/2016 08:45 PM

I must admit I'm addicted to the show for the scenery and interesting details of life aboard a super yacht but it is typical Bravo drama. I was a little disappointed in my visit to Jost last week. It had been 5 yrs since my last trip and there's been some definite changes. Lot of non locals working Soggy and Ivan's. The "white" guy at Soggy was a world class A Hole in my opinion! And the Painkillers were terrible! I made my own down at Gertrudes and they were as good as the original. Ivan's has lost it's charm. The two guys working there from Guyana I believe, were super nice but the whole atmosphere is different. I hate to say it but I blame Kenny Chesney, Below Deck and the cruise ships for the increase in the touristy commercialization.

Re: Bravo Below Deck - 09/10/2016 09:37 PM

White Bay ain't what it used to be. Day boat paradise. It's all about the money. Soggy Dollar isn't worth the visit anymore.

Re: Bravo Below Deck - 09/11/2016 12:02 AM

The BVI Trips were originally booked through charter broker Rebecca Riley at Paradise Yacht Charters:

http://www.paradiseyachtcharters.com/

They shoot the whole thing in +/- a month with back to back tiny charters. The 2-3 days aboard cost the previous BVI groups $25-35K plus their APA advance provisioning allowance and gratuities. That is a lot less cash than the normal week minimum of $140,000 a week plus $20K for each additional day.

For the girls? Might be cheaper to find a group out and get invited back to the boat. For the guys on here. Anyone know how much $50K in cash weighs to cover the 2-3 day package?

Season 3 of Below Deck was in the Bahamas. Below Deck Mediterranean is technically a different show.

Re: Bravo Below Deck - 09/12/2016 03:18 AM

I was at Nanny Cay a couple of years ago when the first season of this annoying show was being filmed.

The boat arrived a bit later than expected, having been beat up in their passage from the Bahamas. To my utmost horror, they docked RIGHT NEXT TO ME! I begged the dockmaster to change my slip...but no. No room in the inn.

The real crew left the boat - each with their belongings neatly stowed in plastic containers. They all had a wonderful vacation ahead of them - with rooms at the hotel, and no obligations unless the stupid boat returned for some reason.

Then the fake crew arrived...with much aplomb. This is when the filming started. Huge lights were erected at the end of the dock, and it went on all night. ALL FREAKING NIGHT!

It was so incredibly annoying that a representative of the villagers (permanent dock residents) was sent to negotiate a truce with the captain. He was indeed a nice guy, and agreed to turn off the lights when they weren't filming.

Each ridiculous crew member arrived...one more ridiculous than the next. Each one was filmed arriving and greeting the captain.

I spent two days next to them, and would have rather been in the jail in Road Town.

You can see me in many shots scowling in my cockpit.
