Bitter End Yacht Club

Bitter End Yacht Club - 12/06/2017 05:33 PM

We are starting to plan our family vacation with three children for December 2018. We've never been to BEYC but think it might be a good option for us and our interests.

I've emailed the BEYC but anticipate they may not be ready to speculate as to their timing. Any of you seasoned north-sounders have thoughts as to when BEYC might be operational again.

Thanks.

I heard 2019. Not sure how accurate that time is

I'm confused how you expect anyone here to know if BEYC won't comment themselves? I think if you're set on them, you should be planning a backup plan, that you can switch to by fall, if necessary.

I've been following TTOL long enough to appreciate there are a lot of regular contributors who have an intimate understanding of the BVI and how things get done. Was hoping one of them would offer an opinion as to whether or not BEYC might be open by December 2018. Expect nothing more than it's possible, not likely, or ain't gonna happen.

Its going to be at least 2 years before they open. Feel so sad for them. What with Saba Rock, Bitter End, Yccs and Leverick, there was so much for boaters to see and do in North Sound. Just hope everyone is up and running as soon as poss

Has work started on Saba Rock? Would love to see that up and running?

Was in North Sound last Friday. Lots of positive signs of rebuilding. Many workers at Saba Rock. Some clearing and burning of debris occuring at BEYC. Construction activity at Oil Nut Bay looked to be as busy as ever. Leverick Bay Marina reconstruction is in full swing and they are also expanding the beach area.

A large load of construction material was on the beach at Prickley Pear but little signs of repairs to the beach bar having started.

Saw a few workers at YCCS and I was amazed to see that all the marina docks and all pilings had been removed.

Mosquito and Eustacia Islands both had a large workforce presence.

They was also a marine tug pulling out a large powerboat from the mangroves near Gun Creek, and a backhoe was busy clearing rocks from around one of the grounded cargo vessels near Leverick Bay.

Wonder if anything left of Bira's Creek or if anyone plans to do anything over there.

Nick - Leverick looks amazing considering what it looked like in the pics from 3 months ago. It really is impressive how much you have accomplished in such a short time. I took a ton of pics of the progress you have made when we stopped there a few days ago but I'm not really sure how to post them. Dinner was incredible BTW and thanks for letting us stay on your dock.

From a distance the restaurant and surrounding rooftops looked to have survived reasonably well, but no idea how the interiors fared. The dock appeared in reasonable shape. Didn't go on the property to see how the hotel units made out. Temporary roof repairs were made to the employee house on the hillside by the flagpoles and there were signs that perhaps a caretaker is living there. The roof was off the beach club pavilion on Long Bay. Area around the ferry dock was demolished. Very sad to see the destruction to Esther's gift shop and Fat Virgins Cafe.

David Johnson might be able to acquire the property for a very good price at this time.
