Anyone in Anegada 3/28?

We’re in Leverick Bay rocking and rolling in 18kts and 2.5m swells. We’re in a 45’ monohull on a mooring ball. Had planned to sail to Anegada tomorrow for two nights. However, we’re having second thoughts now as two separate catamaran charter captains told us that they had scrapped their plans based on the winds... expecting Anegada mooring ground to be too uncomfortable. Windfinder.com Is predicting 2.7m for tomorrow . Anyone there now who can comment? We don’t mind the swells, but if the mooring ground is as crowded, as others have reported it to be, not sure I love the idea of no sleep worrying about being at anchor in rolling swells.

You sound like a prudent skipper, so trust your instincts. We were at Leverick almost exactly a month ago with 25+ kt winds at our slip for two days, whitecaps in North Sound, large swell, and frequent heavy rain. We had also heard that many (wise) sailors who had already hunkered down at Anegada were staying put, so the moorings were very full. Hopefully you had a great night tonight with Michael Beans...maybe sit tight another day and be flexible. We cancelled our Anegada plans, but we will be back!

The Anegada anchorage is very protected during a swell and the holding is very good. Lots of room over in front of Neptunes.. You may get more first hand information from Anegada on bvipirate.com

The swells are nothing compared to last month, there is a slight roll deep out in the mooring field but in the inside it is very sheltered, as of 9am this morning.

The area in front of Neptune's is likely to be way too shallow for a 45 foot monohull.

Due to our 6’ draft, we decided to pass on Anegada this trip as we would have likely had to anchor outside mooring field. The sail there would have been a bit of a slog as well. We got a bit of a late start but we got fuel and water at Leverick! We decided to head to Norman and had a great sail downwind. The Bight was jammed packed by 3 so we dropped anchor just off the northeast shore. No new Willy T just yet. Steaks on the grill with little rolling... thanks for everyone’s input!!!
