Trip Report May 16-May 17, 2018
Day 1- Arrived at Sunsail base via ferry from STT. Stayed overnight at Mariner Inn. Still a work in progress, but convenient and comfortable. Pizza at Charlies.

Day 2- Easy day by the pool. Captains briefing and provisioning at Riteway. Received our Sunsail 38 at 5PM. Dinner at the Sports Bar across the street. Chicken curry was delicious.

Day 3- Final provisioning. My wife and I were not satisfied with the boat, so Sunsail agreed to provide a different boat. This caused us to not get off the dock until 3PM. Sunsail did upgrade us to a new boat at no charge and we were given a credit due to getting off the dock so late. My itinerary obviously had to be adjusted for leaving at 3PM. We decided a downwind sail to the Bight would be our best choice. Winds were 22KPH and gusting to 28. Plenty of mooring balls available.

Day 4- Sailed to Cooper. 5 balls available at 1PM. Went to happy hour and by the time dinner hour arrived, the place was packed.

Day 5- Off to North Sound. Really a fun day of sailing, pretty much straight upwind, 22KPH wind with heavier gusts. Fun none the less. Arrived at Leverick about 1:30 with around 5-6 balls still open, bu these filled rather quickly. Had a nice dinner at Leverick.

Day 6- We took a taxi up to Hog Heaven for lunch. Delicious lunch and drinks. The view was spectacular!! Still construction going on there. The provisioning store at Leverick was fully stocked.

Day 7- Beautiful sail to Anegada! Winds let up some to around 18 KPH. We made it by 11:30 to a full mooring field. After anchoring, we headed in and caught a cab to Cow Wreck. A fun afternoon. We saw Walker and his wife Nancy so we said hello. We had dinner at Anegada Reef Hotel. Wow!! Such great food and service!!

Day 8- Stayed at anchor. Today we took a cab to Loblolly Bay. Snorkeling was fantastic! Lunch and drinks at Big Bamboo. We opted to have dinner again at Anegada Reef Hotel. LOL

Day 9- Long sail back. We had planned to sail to Great Harbor JVD, but decided to stop at Cane Garden Bay. The place was almost like a ghost town. We had dinner aboard.

Day 10- Sailed to Great Harbor JVD. Plenty of balls around 11AM, but was full by the time we got back from White Bay. Lunch at Hendo’s was so good! We then decided to walk to beach and try out some of the other bars. Hendo’s and Soggy were very busy, but they were the only ones getting any business.

Day 11- Back to the base. Ferry back to STT and back home the next day.

We are so glad we went! The people are so thankful and grateful to see visitors coming back!!!

Sounds like a great trip and sorry to hear about the first boat at Sunsail. What was wrong there?
How was the entrance and anchorage in Anegada? Any changes there after the storm? Did you have any draft issues with the monohull?

Yes, we had a great trip!
We had paid for a "Premier" level boat. The first boat just did not live up to those specs in our opinion. i.e. A\C froze up, manual pump head (for my wife this was a deal breaker), very worn (screens and shades broken). Nothing safety wise though.
The entrance to Anegada was fine. Outer two sets of buoys are in place, just the last green is missing. Anegada did remarkably well. The people there are amazing! The beaches and people are still beautiful!
No draft issues. The Sunsail 38 has a shoal keel just under 6 ft. We anchored in 10ft. of water on the south side of the mooring field.
