We will be flying Air Sunshine from SJU Tortola due to VG airport's closure. Has anyone done this lately? Are you using Speedy's from Beef Island? How were the connections? We are on the 5pm AS flight to Tortola and the 10:30am return back to San Juan.We have checked through luggage.

Hi Connie the Beef Island airport is in good shape - no worries there - there is shuttle that will take your luggage to the ferry dock or if you have lots of time it's easily walkable - Trellis is being fixed up and they are finally getting rid of the washed up boats. cheers Brian PS - the 6:30 ferry is the one to catch unless AS flies you out earlier and you catch the 4:30 - the ride is only 20 minutes. Get Speedys' or L&S to leave the rental car at the dock - cheers

Thanks Brian!!!! Is there any restaurant/drink option at the dock area? We will use Mahagany for the jeep. They are always so helpful. How about the flight back? We are scheduled at 10:30am on AS. I think there is an 8:30 ferry.....hopefully that connection time is satisfactory for AS?

Hi Gordaguy...do you have more info about the shuttle from the Trellis dock to the airport? We have 2 mobility challenged parents to drop off (as we continue our bareboat trip in early July). Do you know how to contact the shuttle for the pick up? I can't find anything on line.

Also, can we temporarily dock at Trellis (Marinemax 443 PC) to assist them getting off?

Thanks!
Tom

If the AS flight is on time you will have no problem - my 10:30 left at 11:30 so I missed my 1 PM flight to Philly - ferry is no problem they basically run on time - there is a cafeteria outside of the boarding area at EIS and inside there is a smaller snack bar with various pastry selections and coffee, tea - sorry Michael no beer.

The shuttle is a jitney so you need to be able to get in the back - I think if you contact Speedy's you might be able to arrange a taxi from the dock - just a side note the ferry is not that easy to board and un-board (narrow gangway) in any event (they are temporarily using smiths old ferries operating under Speedy's name) - I'm sure you can temporarily dock at trellis if that is an easier option. You might want to consider taking the ferry from VG to Road Town then taking a bigger taxi which will deliver you to the front door of the air terminal or depending on mobility just walk from the trellis bay dock to the airport (the jitney goes around to the front door) which is not how the crow flies nor how you would walk to the airport from trellis - as long as your parents don't have a lot of luggage or you manage it for them the walk wouldn't be difficult. cheers Brian

People are busy cleaning up Trellis (grounded boats) so by September I am sure there will be something.

We always book a private transfer from Beef Island to Virgin Gorda with Elaine at Bradley Powerboats based at leverick Bay. Wonderful communication, great boats and if your plane is delayed they wait!!! So no hanging around for hours for a missed ferry. Highly Recommended:-)

Speedy's is using Smiths ferries on the VG to trellis route so I don't know if there was a partnership or some other corporate arrangement - cheers Brian

Jason,
does the ferry from VG go direct to Trellis or does it still make the rounds to North Sound?

BoulderBoy, regrettably Jason has passed away. The North Sound Express no longer runs. Speedy's runs between Trellis and Spanishtown..
