JVD - 03/16/2019 09:18 PM

Hi! We are staying on Scrub and plan to visit JVD. My question is should we dedicate a day to visit JVD or include it as a stop on a boat excursion that also visits Peter Island, etc. for snorkeling. Thanks for your feedback!

I am not an advocate of trying to pack too much into trips down here..JVD and Peter on the same day will give you little time at either one..works for some folks "been there done that"..but not for me. Others may well have a different view.

I would agree...especially as JVD and Peter arent that close. You can find good snorkeling around Scrub or JVD.

I would have the captain stop at Monkey Point, Guana Island on the way over to JVD as IMHO this is a top 5 snorkeling spot in the BVIs

I have captained "we want to see it all" tours and I cant wait for the day I can skip the Baths...:)

Thank you for your feedback! We are going to spend the day on Virgin Gorda to explore. But I'm just wondering if I need a full day for JVD or if I can incorporate it into a day boat excursion that also hits some snorkel spots.

Thank you!

You can incorporate into snorkel but I would stay North of Tortolla...your captain will know some good snorkel spots on way over to JVD such as Monkey Point. I believe you have a young child? Snorkel on way over to to JVD. Maybe Diamond Cay, JVD (Capt will know if bubbly pool good) and then end at Great Bay. Your kid will nap on way home guaranteed...I miss those days

Glad you have full day on VG. Make sure you got to Bathe before or after nay cruise ships

All in IMHO

it was an error...so my correction is to end at White Bay, JVD.

I'll second Monkey Point for a snorkel stop - some of the best snorkeling we've done in the BVI's and we always make it a stop when we charter.

We've had fantastic snorkeling and awful snorkeling at Monkey Point. Seems to be a place maybe more affected by localised weather and current effects. We have been there when its light winds and not much swell around and still not been able to see more than a few feet in front of us. And have also been there in stronger winds and moderate swell and had fantastic visibility and oodles of critters!

That said, we never pass without stopping for a look. When its good, its great!

I have had the same experiences as Christo. Worth the stop, but you never know what you will get.
