After charter lodging - 01/18/2020 02:35 AM
I apologize for the repeat post, as I know it’s been discussed before. We have two days land based after our charter in the islands and are looking for a place to stay. There’s one condo/resort that is repeatedly mentioned here but I can’t remember the name. We would make our way back to St Thomas once we return the boat. (Chartering DYC if that’s of any consequence). Air bnb is looking a little slim for our dates but I know there’s locally owned properties we are probably missing. Dates for stay would be 3/5-3/7.
TIA

Try Nanny Cay Hotel. You won't be disappointed.

Boondox … If I understand, it appears you plan to transfer over to St. Thomas once you leave the DYC base at Scrub Island. It makes me think you are flying out of St. Thomas (STT). If this is correct, you might be thinking of Emerald Beach Resort, located between the St. Thomas Airport and Charlotte Amalie. It seems to be the 'go to' property for pre-charter and post charters.

We really enjoy Emerald Beach but their prices are all over the place. I tried to book for this Thursday and it was $365 plus about another $45 for taxes and fees. We are staying at Windward Passage ( nice rooms but bad layout) for $190..Last time we stayed at Emerald in November it was $210..
If you decide to stay in the BVI, we have space on those dates at Coconut Breeze Villas. We are also a TTOL Sponsor as Agape Cottages.
You can skip CGB while chartering and enjoy it from land for a couple of days instead.

We are staying one night at Emerald Beach on May 1st. I called and asked for their best rate, they quoted me $209 per night, for a King room.

This may not be what the OP is looking for, but might help out others :
Nanny Cay, on Tortola was a pretty neat place. New condos and hotel area, brand new marina, and for a stop during our two week sailing vacation , we picked up a slip in the New Nanny Cay Marina. We could walk over rt Peg Legs, the swimming pool
and the beach. Great dock staff, and wonderful helpful ladies in the Marina Office, and good times at the bar meeting local residents as well as other bare boat sailors..
Also, it was my birthday, and we wanted a special night out.....they arranged a taxi to BRANDYWINE, Wow ! What a class place for a special evening out to dinner. Casual, excellent amabiance, meals , drinks and staff and even the
owner came out from the kitchen, and visited with all of guests at their tables. Very nice special occassion kind of dinner out.....even just a last nights celebration before leaving the BVI.
Back to Nanny Cay, the bar / restaurant was out door open air beach style, extremely friendly, and fun, and good times.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The other place for a last night, for us was Maria's by he Sea . Very nice hotel, and a very short walk to Customs and the Ferry Dock, And a fun place across the coastal road was Pussers Rum Co, and Bar. Very nice ambiiance, great bar and restaurant, and of course Pussers Company Store. We did not need a taxi from maria's by the sea, since we could walk to what we needed in very short order. We stayed there our first and last nights on our last trip, and again life was made easy for the St Thomas USVI ferry..
We did taxi to and from Conch Charters in Road Reef ( harbor), and that was also easy, and short, but too long to walk.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also, when we previously chartered thru Conch, we loved staying at the Fort Burt hotel when first arriving, and that was just a few steps across the road. ( not sure after Irma). Also Rite Way was just up the road from Conch, and we used their dock wheel barrows to run up to the market for self provisioning. The PUB was next door to Conch, and as usual friendly people, good food and drinks, and open air good views of the Conch marina, and Road Harbor. it is always good in the BVI.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For most of the other trips, we were with the moorings or sunsail....and honestly, after flying from LAX, across the country and ocean, we looked forward to arriving at the Moorings, check in, go to our room at the Mariner Inn overlooking the docks, change into our swim suits and splash into the pool, and , of course, order some pain killers from the pool outside bar. This was all pre-irma, and now there has been some owner ship changes, so not sure what it is like now. But over 30 years, we really liked the whole marina experience at The Moorings and Sunsail.
Just some ideas for others who are bare boating the BVI, You all know and love those islands. Always, always a special and fun experience no matter who you bare boat charter with.

I will be down there with my Crew May 2-10 perhaps our paths will cross? 4 man Cannuck crew, on a DYC Bali 4.3... If you see one with a bunch of yahoos that don't look like they know what their doing, it is probably us!
If it is not too painful, may I ask what you are sailing on now? I am guessing your 50' Benateau (reef song was it?) did not survive Irma?
