New BVI Government Regulation requires all passengers to show proof of transfer from arrival at the airport or ferry to their final destination. Please show this email to the transportation department at the port of entry to inform that you have a transfer organized with our transfer provider, Wheatley's.

As you have not pre-paid for your transfer, you will have to pay for your transfer on arrival. Costs are as follows:
Airport: 16 USD per person one way
Ferry: 8 USD per person one way

Not at all sure what this means..and what does Wheatley have to do with other islands except Anegada? I must be missing something.

It’s from the Moorings. They use Wheatley but apparently you now have to prearrange transportation. Not sure how that works when you are picking people up with a dinghy or rental car. Not sure if you pay at customs who you ride with.

Compliments of the taxi lobby, no doubt. There have been dust-ups at the ferry terminal between energetic taxi entrepreneurs and other transportation providers, chiefly associated with charter services and hotels. The taxi drivers are also exercised over the free electric shuttles in Road Town, even though they routinely scorn $5 rides in favor of domino games.

I doubt that those flying in and planning to walk to a ferry in Trellis Bay will be affected.

This possibly has more to do with some back and forth between the taxi associations. There is an Airport taxi association and they pay for the privilege, and it pains them to see passengers walking by them and getting into other taxis. It is a strange rule though. would think that the airport greeter for the Moorings would suffice.

Lots of Wheatleys in the BVI other than on Anegada. If you were thinking about Lowell Wheatley, he went TO Anegada from Virgin Gorda. His brother Dale (AKA Blondie) owns Hog Heaven, there. Vincent Wheatley from North Sound is the 9th District (Virgin Gorda & Anegada) representative in the House of Assembly. His wife is Esther, who owned The Fat Virgin at Biras Creek. And lots more on Tortola.

It might be just another rule that will quickly be forgotten. The Moorings might be extra cautious after the propane detector fiasco. Anyone who has arrived the last few days care to comment?

We used Wheatley for at least the last 2 trips. They now have a booth at the Moorings/Sunsail base. I actually really liked the service and Rico, who works for them, was super helpful. Our last trip in May, we grabbed a cab from West End because we were dropped off by a private boat. That cab ride to the base was more expensive than it was for our return to West End when we booked through Rico.

Now, as far as having to show that we had transportation because of some new government rule...we did not.
