See the end of the "st croix" thread from December. At the bottom this is discussed. With any luck this link will get you there:

We recently did a USVI in lieu of BVI trip and loved it. Our Trip Report here and Video version

Similar report from another BVI to USVI switch: Another Trip Report

Unless Covid and the accompanying restrictions ease, we will likely switch from BVI to USVI again in June. We did not visit ST Croix, but we experienced no crime issues in St John or St Thomas.

Check out Capt. Jay's recommended USVI itinerary. https://www.cyoacharters.com/the-usvi-covid-loop/

Lock your dinghy everywhere. Lock your boat when you leave. Stay out of sketchy areas. Good to go!

I've made numerous sail trips to St Croix over the past several years. I've never felt unsafe but here are some suggestions:

Avoid Buck Island and Christiansted Harbor on Sundays when the local go-fast boats show up.

If renting a vehicle and leaving it parked to do a beach excursion or hike, take all your valuables and leave the vehicle unlocked. In one day I saw vehicles broken into at the Isaac & Jack Bay trail head and at the West Beach parking lot south of Frederiksted.
