Can anyone give info about electricity on Island? without it, nothing will go further, and that includes any communication... Gebe has major problems in good times, so can only imagine them trying to get electric and water back... After luis, the water and electricity was going off more than on, for a very long time... This should be the major focus, as nothing can be done until its restored.. Any info would be helpful...

Honestly, it's now 6 days post Irma here in Florida and WE don't have electric yet. I think it's going to take quite a bit longer for GEBE to accomplish much in SXM...

I understand that. But knowing gebe is very scary... Would be nice to call in real professionals to give a hand. Getting them up and running is the only way the Island can survive... The Island is crippled with lack of elec. but we all know that... Lets hope for a change, From history, we know that they handle things very poorly... Well it is what it is...

Let me ask you for at least the 3rd time.....prior to buying property on the island, did the thought of a hurricane cross your mind?

You have yet to answer this question.

A couple of days ago on laser 101 it was mentioned that GEBE had generator 1 online and juice flowing to hospital and other places in less than 1 week. Generator 2 has a roof issue and they working to repair it and were calling in workers by name on radio. Also, they have to test lines before they energize.

They said the initial juice in less than 1 week compares to 3 months after Luis.

Gebe also has to inspect the meters that will be powered up to make sure they can accept the power. It's just not a simple task to flip a switch and say all is good.

I agree with you JD. So Sasasal, what is the answer? You been there 20 years you say. Why not more sanguine?
Cheers!

Of cource we thought of hurricanes... and have sustained a few. Luis in 1995, and a few since... this one however is much worse with from what I have seen much more damage...Not sure why I am being asked that? I only mentioned gebe because of history with this electric company... They have proven in good times they do not have there act together... We have spent many a times when electric was shut or water cut... I do understand this is a huge fix, and they need time, just hope its in the realm of reason. I do not believe anyone needs to confront someone with a sarcastic tongue here. Pehaps being stressed I am saying the wrong things, for that I am sorry... there are those much less fortunate than us, but we have a home that could be in scrapes...
