Has anyone stayed at this resort?
It looks nice on the website and the Travel Advisor reviews are pretty good.
My wife and I are considering staying there when we return to SXM next fall.

Would be great if you could post here as we are thinking about Jardin as well.

Thanks, that would be very helpful. Hopefully it turns out to be a great place to stay.

I spoke today with a couple on the beach staying there now. They are not impressed by the mosquitos or the accommodations. They are going tonight to meet the woman who owns the house where we are staying, in order to reserve for their next trip.

Hi Jim
Would you mind sharing where you are staying and how you like it? Would love to hear about it.

We are staying at Villa Paloma. It is one of the villas that used to be part of the Green Cay Villas hotel. It is owned by one of the owners (Delphine) of Le Piment restaurant in Orient Village. The house has been completely redone. Very modern kitchen open to the living room. A large table outside the living room over the pool and another 8 seat table on the deck and under a roof. The fasted WiFi I have ever experienced in SXM. Premium US Satelite TV. Ultra clean and a short walk down to Orient VIllage restaurants. The house has three bedrooms three baths and unlike the older Green Cay units, you don't have to go outside to get to the bedrooms. The pool deck is completely private.

Jim--have to say, comparing Villa Paloma versus Jardin D'O is apples to oranges, including the price point!!! I'm going to guess and say the price is roughly three times??

I wasn't really comparing. The folks staying at Jardin D'O were not happy. I never saw the place. I'm very familiar with the former Green Cay Villas. I was the hotel's US lawyer.

Looks like a great place. Is it uphill all the way back from the beach and village?

Jim--sorry, I missed vacanakey's question about where you are staying. Stayed at Green Cay several times myself. It was a great place. Now they are all individual villas, it seems.

Yes, it is uphill. But not up the steep part like the higher Green Cay Villas. By the way, those higher units got rashed. Unit 20 lost its roof and is a mess. Unit 18 is in the early stages of repair. Unit 16 has most of the structural work done. Some of the units in the second row down from the top are repaired, some not, although you cannot really see what is going on. Villa Paloma is fully repaired as are others at that level. The former office is now an apartment.

This is the first non-positive sentence fragment ive read about the place and it is second hand by an unknown.

Agree 100% Pelican. We will be back in March for the 4th time at Le Jardin. Have been going to SXM since 1995 and have stayed at a wide range of accommodations including Green Cay, Esmeralda, Le Petit Hotel, private villas and Club O. In our opinion Le Jardin is an excellent option in its price range if c/o is important. There is a fabulous pool, the location is great for the Club O beach during the day and Orient Village or Grand Case dining at night. Lionel and Lydia are great hosts/owners and are quick to respond to any issues. Don’t rely on second hand anonymous opinions.
