Found this website that gives locations that you can get relatively quick covid-19 test and results. I would presume each location varies on times. I called the one in St. Petersburg, FL and they said results would be in 3-5 business days. This is at least a step in the right direction for beginning to travel to destinations that require you have a negative Covid19 test result. Other hurdles include quarantine where you go though. I would check each destinations government website that you would think you would like to go and see what their quarantine and other rules are as well.

Goodmorning, perhaps share on the SXM board as they are all looking for this information.

Not sure what definition they are using for 'rapid' as 3 to 5 days doesn't really help for SXM, as the test needs to be taken and results received no more than 72 hours for SXM.

You are right, 72 hours is such a tight time and seems to be the main time frame I see on alot of countries that are at least trying to let people in with some caution. 3-5 days with no guarantee is not gonna cut it for many of the requirements....

Alternatively there are “in-home” test kits I’ve seen in news articles and on line that you can have lab results from within 48 - 72 hours, pricing varies between lab but if I remember they’re around $150/test...

There may be a rapid saliva test coming in the next couple of months - that would be a game changer for many.

crmoores--the 'in home' test kits are not acceptable for SXM and probably not for many other places either. Think about it--absolutely NO outside checks on who the test is being administered to?

I thought the live test monitoring and scan code ID process made it a viable/robust testing option for travel... but it’s not accepted, I didn’t know that Carol thanks.

I had a Covid nasal test 900 am Sunday at a local healthplex and had the results 800 am today...less than 48 hours. In suburban Washington DC. More importantly, the results were posted on my health website....so much better than the almost 2 weeks it took my son a couple of months back to get his via email. Going in the right direction....

I still think BVI will institute some kind of quarantine which will be a deal killer...

Saliva test will be great when it is accepted.

A possible solution for villa guests might be to allow the guests to go to their villa - slef isolate (perhaps with a security guard) test in the morning and if the results show no covid in one or two days allow the guests to freely circulate. That to me is what I could see as "living with it" from a tourist perspective.

What do you do in that situation if a guest tests positive and only has a 7-day reservation at the villa? You can't put them back on a plane knowing they are positive. I guess you could move them to a govt. facility and sterilize the villa.

Carol. I went searching for this post ~ wonder if others are too.
Perhaps add this to the pinned post?

Please keep looking. 4 months ago my wife and I went to an urgent care in Manhattan Beach CA, had the nasal probe test, and had results in 4 hours. Insurance covered 100%. We never left my truck.

Shana Dickerson hooked me up with a doctor in FL who turns tests around in 24 hours after receipt of tests. http://blueskyluxurytravels.com/about/

I bought 20 tests for our company as we need to have quicker turnaround than local testing provides. With the exception of a FEdEx screw up, we had emailed results within 24 hours.

Call your family doctor as well. Ours has an on-site lab and turned around a test for my son in 4 hours prior to a trip to STT.

Keep in mind that it has to be a PCR test. I don't think the "rapid" tests are accepted.

Thanks everyone...I have seen places where it indicates PCR and other RT-PCR. Very confusing as to which they really will accept. Or is that just me having a blond moment?

I corresponded with the Gateway yesterday (Kelly) with questions. Below is what they require.

"A Certified RT-PCR SARS-CoV-2 negative test result is required"

Our lab does a rapid RT-PCR (nasal/molecular) and they told me it is a no go.

We all are having a blond moment. All of us are telling more than we know. That happens when the rules change frequently.
