Will be making our much delayed and several times rescheduled trip back to Saint Martin around Christmas. Have been looking at travel/health insurance/Evacuation insurance. Have a couple friends who have made different recommendations. Wife has been talking mainly two alley Allianz but sounds a little expensive for a single trip policy. Looking for a little advice from other savvy travelers who have procured this type of insurance policies for their trips to Saint Martin your suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Bob--You might try to contact TTOL sponsor Insure my Trip, my clicking on the link on the sponsors page. If you book through them, via that link, TTOL gets a small commission and the cost to you is the same. They can help you compare coverages online or over the phone. If you're looking to cover a cancellation due to a Covid problem, be aware that you probably will have to book Cancel for any Reason insurance, which is usually required to be paid for within a very short time of when you originally booked. (...which with a rescheduled trip, who knows what date that would be???) And while it is specifically about the BVI and not SXM, you might want to check out this thread in the BVI forum, for a discussion of the various issues involved. Link

Hi there...for medical evacuation...we booked with Medjet...what I liked about their plan is that they will take you to the hospital of your choice....not just the closest hospital...as a Canadian...I would want to be taken to the closest hospital in Canada...not to Miami. They are evacuation only..for medical....we are looking at Manulife that offers medical insurance that covers Covid in case you need to see a doctor or prescription...you are covered...but not cheap...depends on your age and length of trip. My question...we have basic medical insurance...and Medjet Covid /. Emergency Evacuation insurance....I am wondering if that is enough. What are they exactly looking for upon entry as proof of Covid / medical insurance....much of my medical insurance is covered under my premium credit card

Andy--I see you are new. Welcome!
With regard to what SXM wants, my impression is that all they care about is that you check the box that says that you have medical insurance. They are not doing any verification of what you say.

We always get our insurance, as soon as we book and make a payment, so there is no preexisting issue. Now I'm a little confused, about what to get, since we may need something extra for for evacuation. Can't wait for that vaccine!!!
I did read on Facebook that someone had to be evacuated with Covid-19, but hesitated to post it here, not knowing the person. There were 2 different posts and I'm assuming it was the same person..
