Not at all and I bet the French side is even lower.

i can say the island seemed really dead the first few days we were here, but starting a couple days after christmas, it seems like there are more people here now...still obviously quieter than usual

That is higher than it seemed when we were there in late Nov early Dec, and while I feel for the tourist industry it sure is a good time to be a tourist!

Cheers, T

I prefer the Isle seat

Was true in November but NOT NOW. Occupancy now is up to 59% in some larger timeshare resorts, and improving. Many people seem to be eager to get out of the US for a while.

...actually, the stat had to do with HOTEL occupancy, not timeshares..

A good indication is the number of seats available on the flights going into SXM.
The several that I have checked are only one third full.

Agree that "load factor" is a good barometer. I'm headed to the island in five weeks, and my flight shows 39% coach seats are reserved.

And it appears that my return flight has been cancelled. It doesn't show up on my online itinerary, and I'm unable to see the flight when making a new search. Not sure how that's gonna play out...

Some (most) timeshares are also "hotels" that have many rooms/condos available to the public to rent. They are most likely included in the stats....
