Does this group have any recommendations for where to spend the last night on a charter before departing from STT? We'll be sailing around the USVI in April and need to return to the base at Compass Point at 10am. We'd love to go ashore on the last night for a good meal. Cowpet would be ideal, but I realize there are only private moorings and no anchoring. Any other suggestions?

Why not just put the boat in at Compass Point -- then take a taxi to any of the East End Restaurants - I actually would recommend dinghying over to Carigas in the Boatyard.

That's our plan for the first night before we leave Compass Point... looking for another option for the last night.

Possible to anchor at Secret Harbor and dine at their restaurant if you feel the weather is permitting.

Compass Point is maxed out with the charter companies (thanks to the DYC move in). The docks are chaos and we were told there was no way we were coming in early last month (just isn't anywhere to put boats). We spent our last night at Caneel/Honeymoon - quick hop back to base and you can head into Cruz Bay or Zozo's for dinner. Everything is busy and reservations are a must at all the higher end establishments. Lovango Cay overnight/dinner is an option if the winds and waters are in a cooperating mood. We had hoped to do an overnight there but the winds were crazy and overnight conditions not optimal.

You can hit Pizza Pi at Christmas Cove, open until 6PM - www.pizza-pi.com. If weather permits, can dinghy to Cowpet and go to the Caribbean Fish Market. April weather is usually decent. Bring plenty of lights for your dinghy and PFDs.

Me, I would hit the Caneel anchorage and visit the best Caribbean port town in the VIs - Cruz Bay. 20+ restaurants are walkable. Lovango is over priced and their dinner service needs to step up; nice people. Zozo's is $120pp ++drinks. Dinner in Cruz Bay at The Terrace, La Tapa, Extra Virgin, Morgan's Mango, 18/64 are better and cheaper. There are many mid-range options that we like; I could list a dozen. We had dinner at Cruz Bay Landing on Thursday and the meal was excellent and the reggae duo was great; they have music every night.

Honeymoon Bay at Water Island does not suck. Great beach and Dinghy's Beach Bar is fun. But, I would hit that on the first night.

Cheers, RickG

You can also get a mooring ball at Great Cruz Bay, have a short dinghy ride to shore (Westin) and easily get a cab into town. We reserved our ball ahead of time with Proper Yachts, paid for it via Venmo and the balls looked in great condition. We liked this option better than Honeymoon just due to the dinghy ride back home in the dark after spending a night on the town.
