Greetings! I posted this on the USVI forum but this maybe a better place as many on that forum are not just passing through.
Can anyone share recent experiences with their taxi rides from the airport to the ferry? Are they still cramming a ton of people in one van or is more social distancing taking place? Just wondering as I am being cautious (yet I am getting on a crowded plane LOL). Just wondering if I should not book a private taxi if they are packing em in. Thanks!

We flew into STT just over a month ago. We were staying a few days at Olga's Fancy (Frenchtown - very close to the ferry terminal). I asked Eddie this question and he said the private taxis were charging pretty ridiculous prices. We had three other people in our van to Olga's. Not too bad but I don't think they were deliberately distancing. We sanitized our hands and kept our masks on. We made it. If you are really concerned I would suggest a private taxi but be prepared for sticker shock.

His message to me was: "They do charge more than twice as much so we don’t recommend it. It is normally $10 a person and they will charge you $25 a person for the 10 minute ride."

The airport is raping the private taxi guys with very high fees. They have had to raise rates to try and make a small profit.
