Anyone heading down soon will want to keep this in mind. Long water outages, particularly in Orient Bay. It's in the full Daily Herald today, but so far I haven't seen it online.

For anyone concerned with the water outages on Orient, La Playa has their own water source for future reference. We got an email from them last week regarding that.

RECOMMENDATIONS

The EEASM and the SAUR invite the populations concerned by this calendar to organize themselves according to the planned cuts and, more generally, urge the entire population of Saint-Martin to show good citizenship during the coming weeks and until the end of the works. A very reasoned and responsible use of drinking water would make it possible to ensure that these sectoral cuts can be as frequent as possible.

After an interruption in dispensing, unusual coloring of the water may occur. In order for the water to regain its full transparency, it is recommended to leave the tap open for a few tens of seconds.

According to doctorj, Orient Beach hotel also has alternative water plans. I would hate to be without water for the length of times they are talking about at Orient...

Best move we could have made. Florence and crew at Orient Beach Hotel saved our vacation.
They must have their own cistern.

That's what I was wondering too - is this a one or two week thing or summer-long thing?

We checked into our Orient Beach condo yesterday and have
Not had water all day today. We were given a schedule as
To the times outages would occur....but the truth is none
Knows. Sucks big time. We are forfeiting our remaining days
And going back to the Dutch side. Seaweed got considerably
Worse today as well on OB.

It's just mind boggling why people stay on the French side with all the water problems and requirements to be met. Ok to visit for beach days but to stay a week or more not for me.

These water issues are unusual, to the extent that they have been somewhat constant for the past month. They are related to all the infrastructure improvements they are doing. Hopefully they are close to finished with it.
