This is sort of a weird question: Over the course of about 10 family charters throughout the years, our trips have consistently gotten longer each time (interesting how that works:)).

Now, I am moving in the opposite direction and planning a quick gentlemens charter with some buddies. Schedules and work/family obligations will allow us about 5 nights on the boat. I know it's a quick one, but it's better than nothing. And it will be IN ADDITION to our usual longer family charter. So...

Any thoughts and experiences with this sort of "quick-hit" itinerary would be welcome. Anybody done this short of a trip? How was it? Tips?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, we did a 5-dayer because one of our sons wanted to bring his girlfriend who was a teacher and getting days off work in Feb. was hard.
Our 5 day itinerary included Norman, (snorkeled the Indians) then Levererick Bay (took a taxi to the Baths) (saw the Mocko Jumbies), then Guana (snorkeled Monkey Pt) then Diamond Cay (bubbly pool) then Peter Is. It was nice to make a trip work for them but frankly I wouldn’t again do it without a special reason like that.

Are you tying it into the family charter or making 2 separate trips. Full disclosure, I always think longer is better but with only 5 days I would make sure to consider things like...

What if you have a flight delay?
What if something happens with the boat that needs a maintenance call which would cut into your itinerary plans?
How far do you have to travel to get there? For us it is a full travel day each way, typically about 20 hours from door to door. I need recovery time on each end!

Good questions, and thanks. And I agree, longer is ALWAYS better. This would be a separate trip (months apart) from family trip. The flight delay issue is a a reality to consider. Fortunately for us, we can get a direct flight to STT and be there in 3.5 hrs (before taxi/ferry bit). It would absolutely be a wall to wall trip. The good news is that the potential crew is up for a wall to wall experience. Boat maintenance as well. All good watch-outs. Thanks for the input.

Thank you, and yes, this is sort of a special-circumstance situation as well. My basic point of view is that I need a sailing fix, i have a potential willing crew, and maybe I should take the chance? We will see...
