Mary Star of the Sea RC Church, Grand Case, St Mar

Mary Star of the Sea RC Church, Grand Case, St Mar - 02/12/2017 06:23 PM

We attended mass this morning with very special friends. We went to Mary Star of the Sea RC church in Grand Case. We attended the 9 AM mass and think we have been privileged to share this time in prayer that is multi cultural diversity at its best. Participating in mass is very special due to the diverse languages spoken. In past weeks, we listened to French, English and Spanish. The children's choir today was spectacular and their voices can still be heard echoing in my head. Parking in Grand Case can be difficult at best. Seating can be an issue so it might be best to arrive early. Next week there will be a brunch after mass. The cost is $8.00 or Euro.

Thanks for this info, deirdre1.

You mentioned 9 AM. Are there other times? We hope to attend when we stay in GC in March.

RonDon,

Not sure of any other time. Father Miguel arrived last week for a one month visit. There are no times posted outside the church and there is no bulletin that I could see. Sorry, I will see if there is more information next week and post it if it new information. Really enjoyed this poor but joyous congregation. Bob

Is the brunch at the restaurant across the street?

We have been attending mass there for the last 30 years it's a wonderful mass it starts around 9am give or take 10 min . Almost everyone of the locals are dressed in Sunday best , the choir sing accompanied by a small band and every one goes up and down the aisle greating each other . Ten years ago we celebrated our 40 anniversary there .looking to our 50th this year . We would not miss the mass at this church

We went yesterday and it was packed. I believe 9 is the only time for mass. They have spent some money on the church with new windows and is now all air conditioned.

Brunch is in the parish hall. Not sure where that is located so we will follow others and ask questions. Bob

Do you know if this brunch is every Sunday after Mass? Or just on the 20th?

We attended mass and the brunch this morning and learned the brunch is every third Sunday of the month. Mass was exceptional again as the children's choir sang their hearts out. Ash Wednesday will be celebrated on Monday March 1, 2017 at the church in Grand Case at 6:30 PM. There is also a celebration for Ash Wednesday in Marigot at 7 AM. Not sure of the name of the church or it's location. Perhaps, someone else can share this information.
