French bakery Simpson Bay?

Any places near Simpson Bay resort to get fresh croissants and breads to take back to our room? Went to Sarafinas yesterday and they were amazing. Looking for something closer to us for a quick run. Thanks

La Sucriere is very near and they do not "recycle" some of the pastries like one of the other places mentioned.

Agreed, La Sucriere is the best for pastries! And if you don't want a full breakfast, you can get a croissant or a quiche and a cup of their wonderful coffee, and enjoy it on the back patio. Lovely place.

Bon appetite makes their own pastries and baquets. Amaizing. They are right next door to SBR.

We too love the goodies from La Sucriere but we also love them from Zee Best. We generally stop in at the take-out shop across from the airport and stock up, and on going home day, we get sandwiches for the plane as well as pastries to go home.

We discovered years ago you can freeze them and take them out to defrost while the coffee's brewing and heat them in the oven for just a few minutes and they're almost as good as those fresh from the oven. And the best part - you know they aren't recycled.

We also tried the relatively new bakery in Jordan village and thought their pastries were very good but that's as much of a stretch from Simpson Bay as La Sucriere is from the Mullet area. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" />

Yup...but every time i go in the AM the croissants "are not ready yet" so down the hill I go.

I'm usually there between 7 and 8. Always ready.

Obviously it's much easier just to walk there than drive but it is what it is...and I will admit I am usually overwhelmed walking in to La Sucriere and end up adding a few additional goodies to my bag

Interesting...there was an inquiry about suggestions for the best bakery on the island a few days ago and there was only one recommendation for La Sucriere (me)...now it seems to be the choice.. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/chef.gif" alt="" />

When the poster indicated they were in Grand Case, I did not respond. After looking again, they did ask about the best bakery on the island.



Personally, I would not drive from Grand Case to Simpson Bay (or vice versa) for pastries.

I guess I read it the same way, thinking they wanted someplace close to Grand Case.

Me, too. I think they are all great but I usually opt for convenience so Jordan Village and Zee Best on Airport Road both work for me. If you need decaf coffee, they don't have it at La Sucriere.

I thought they wanted a bakery close to Simpson Bay Resort.
They WENT to Sarafinas. Didn't say they were staying there.
Le Sucriere is still the best.
And the Latte on back patio with fresh baked pain au chocolat.

I'm with Irina on sitting on the back patio at Le Sucriere enjoying the fresh baked pain au chocolat with a great cup of java. But for those that love the pain au chocolat, Sur La Table sells them already made. If you buy them, you keep them frozen, take out how ever many you need the previous day, let them rise over night, and bake in the a.m. I happened upon them with a 30% coupon via email one time, I am going to try to limit my re-ordering on them to once a year, but they are really really good.

I am staying in Simpson Bay so was looking for something close to us. We happened upon Sarafinas while at the Marigot Market. Ended up driving back there again because both Zee Best and Cafe Atlantic did not have croissants. Where is La Sucriere located?

Go down to the main road and make a right. Look for the FedEx sign on the left, across the street from Capuccino Diner. La Sucriere is just before FedEx..

those burnt almond croissants almost killed me at bon apetit .... luvluvluvluvluv. I like zeebest too

Went to La Sucriere yesterday for a cappuccino. Loved the outdoor patio but the smell of sewage was nauseating. Still enjoyed sitting looking at the boats and water. Huge iguana resides there he was cool to watch.
