Friday Mullet Bay

Friday Mullet Bay - 11/16/2019 10:31 AM

Another day to get up early and I could actually see the lights of Saba this morning until a low level cloud moved it. It is starting out rather overcast today so I hope that is not going to be the mode today.

Pastries from La Sucriere and then off to Mullet Bay and a great day it was. Near perfect conditions, crystal clear water and other than the very rare rouge wave that washed up to the loungers and took some shoes, you could not ask for much more. Not very crowded and we also each enjoyed massages on the beach.

A random stop by BSV to see a unit there where friends are staying and then back to Horny Toad. My wife took a walk to pick up a few items and schedule a nail appointment for today. Jazzgal/Linda is our neighbor here and it was nice to chat with her for a bit.

We were undecided for dinner and thought about The Hideaway at La Vista. We stopped there and they were totally empty again. We ordered a drink and my wife a mozzarella salad that she said left a lot to be desired, especially the tomatoes. One couple came in for dinner and we were told they had 10 reservations for Friday night. That is a far cry from the business they used to do. Our bartender friend said Flamingo being closed has hurt them a lot but The Hideaway used to draw from more than just The Flamingo. Sad to see the lack of dinner business.

We then went to Izi and had good meals. We got in before a large (30 or so) group and got our food in short order but then it was 1 hour from the time I ordered dessert until it was served and we got the bill. Davide was there and was on top of things but between the restaurant being full, a large group and supposedly 3 staff being off due to illness, service was not what it usually is.

Today will likely be spent here at Horny Toad and we will give Simpson Bay Beach a shot as 4 ships are in today (I have seen 2 arrive so far) and Mullet will likely be crowded. The waves are not too bad right now and we have to walk down the beach a bit to get away from the rock ledges but it can be a nice beach.

Thanks for the report. Andrea has told me that Flamingo being closed has hurt them a lot. Enjoy your last few days in paradise!

The Hideaway was our last night go to spot for years. We always enjoyed it. The last couple times we were less than satisfied. Add in, and of course it is not the fault of Hideaway, the last time there were a couple tables of smokers and it was totally unpleasant! I am a reformed smoker but not one of those that wave my hands around like a bird if I smell smoke, however this was over the top. Sad to say that in July, we did not return.
