And some places still convert at 1.15 and 1.20.

Correct, on SXM, the conversion rate is whatever the merchant chooses to set it at and is not pegged to the "official" exchange rate.

Correct but last time in two places I mentioned this around 1.11 and was given this rate. I object to someone charging me 1.20. The ones who agreed were tipped accordingly. Harmless to ask?

If the rate is significantly off, charge it

Yes it is, Bran. Almost .93 USD for one euro. If anyone out there is planning to convert and obtain some euros, this is week to do it at your local bank.

Actually, I meant to say .93 euros for one USD! Sorry. But, some banks may charge a conversion fee so might ant to inquire about that.

As it should be. The US Dollar is not the legal currency. And merchants are not banks. If you want to use US dollars then I guess you have to accept the rate the merchant chooses. You can always show up with some Euro, as we do. Or choose to to shop elsewhere if you don't like the rate.

Or use your credit card if accepted for the going rate.
