There's a post on the Prefet's FB page that the "English Type Variant" has also been identified in 2 people on St Barth.

Why? It's already been shown to be no more deadly than the original strain, and the vaccines are effective against it. The fear mongering is over the top, and needs to stop.

I bet most people don’t know that SXM government contracted with AMI I believe an American company that brought in mostly American doctors and nurses to staff a fully equipped a covid19 unit across from the hospital in its own temp building. 10 ICU beds plus 10 to 15 other beds and at least 10 respirators. My niece who is on sxm now spoke the other day with one of the American Drs who said None , zero covid19 patients in the hospital now and since the start months ago only 3 or 4 tourists came in with covid19 none seriously. They are contracted until at least September , probably longer. The very few deaths all had serious underlining conditions or seriously obese.
Fear and the all the travel shamming and gloom and doom going on has overcome the facts. The island has done a incredible job and government very upfront with the facts , if you don’t believe it, just it out. Unless you have theses underlining conditions just Take precautions and you will be fine.

As a whole I found that the systems in place while on the island were far superior to the preventative measures being taken in the U.S.
